Silly Question

Once you select a pediatrician, what do you say when you call them? Since the baby isn't technically ready to be a "patient"

I called & said I plan on using Dr. when my son is born, and the receptionist said Ok just tell the hospital when they ask. That was what I did, and the Dr. was at the hospital after DS was born.

Not a silly question at all. I felt the same way (which is why I didnt make the phone call until this week at almost 36 weeks).

I just did as the poster above said. I told them I would be choosing Dr. XYZ as my ped once my LO was born and they told me to tell the hospital when I arrived.

Nothing - I put them down on my paperwork at my OBs office and on the hospital forms and they called them when my son was born.

Not a silly question - I just did this on Friday!

I called and said that I'm pregnant with my first and looking for a pediatrician. I asked: is the doctor taking new patients? And does he accept ______ insurance? And do I have to let you know any info before I go into labor? (She told me that no, the hospital will ask who my ped is when I'm in labor, and they'll call the office the morning after the baby is born and set up her first appointment).
