Should we trick or treat?

DD will be 14 months when Halloween rolls around. I am torn if I should buy a costume and take her out. Typically I would say no. She doesn't eat candy and she clearly doesn't understand the concept. On the other hand we are moving into a new house in a new town the weekend before so it would be the perfect opportunity to meet our new neighbors. She likes people and would probably enjoy just waving.
Yay or nay

Do it! My triplets were the same age last year and we did. It was fun. My husband ate all the candy :)

I would say you could wait depending on weather. Your daughter wont realize whats going on. It is fun to dress her up, but if you are looking to save the money, but 2nd hand or just get tshirt. I took my kids last year around 1 block only & they had just turned 2yrs.

We brought DS out at 16 months but he was tagging along with my nephew who is four years older than him. We pulled them both in a wagon around their neighborhood, and he enjoyed the wagon ride and cried when we tried to take him up to the door with my nephew, so he was just along for the ride.

If you don't want to get her a costume, then maybe get her a cute Halloween outfit and take her around the neighborhood for a walk.

Do it!! Dd is only going to be 3.5 months on Halloween, but were still going "trick or treating" to both sets of grandparents and one of our friends houses.

I'd say just take her for a walk in the stroller with a Halloween themed shirt or something. I'm sure she will like looking at the kids and the decorations. No need to go door to door.

Re: Should we trick or treat?

Sure! I have a costume for DS this year, he is 14 months as well, and we are going out & I plan to take lots of pics. He can't walk well enough to really trick or treat yet, he will stay in the stroller, but we'll go for a walk around the neighborhood.

Should we trick or treat?

I didn't take my oldest DS trick or treating until last Halloween, he was 2.5. This year my youngest is 19 months and will be going simply because his older brother is. We did do a costume for DS his first 2 Halloweens, I dressed him up for when we answered the door for trick or treaters.

Our DS will be just shy of his 1st birthday! I plan on taking him out, but going to a my parents, uncles and a few friend's houses. Not so much walking our the neighborhood.

Do what will make you happy! I can't wait to dress him up.

Last year Ds just turned one the day before and we toted him around the neighborhood in his little Dino costume. No, he had no idea what was going on, but it was adorable anyway and everyone loves to see a baby dressed up. Plus, he didn't eat the candy, so more for mommy and daddy! Lol.

We took DD last year, at 13 months. We mostly just walked with her, only stopping at our close neighbors' homes. She loved every minute of it- she's very social and especially loved seeing all the kids. And last year, I had total control of her costume. Hard to believe how opinionated she is about her costume this year at just 2! I say go and enjoy a fun walk, meet some neighbors, and take advantage of being able to dress her the way you want to, haha.

I would!!!

My DD was a month old for her first Halloween and we dressed her up went around!!

ETA - I didn't take her door to door, we walked around the neighborhood and went to the Stony Brook Halloween Festival. I wouldn't have missed a chance to dress her up and take a million pics of her!! Chat Icon

I would see if there's something for kids going on in the town. We took DD into our village last year at 18 months to their trick or treating event. The stores give out little toys and candy and then they get a prize at the end. Maybe see if your town or library does something since that would be a good opportunity to meet other parents and kids. Either way, definitely get a costume just for some cute pics!

Yes, definitely go! It is the perfect way to meet your neighbors and introduce yourself. Where we live, this is the only way we met almost all of our neighbors. No one introduced themselves, we were shocked.

I'm sure DD will have fun. You can take the candy to work or do that program where you send it to soldiers. Plus you'll get cute pics of DD. All around good!
