Should I Go to the ER?
I have been voilently Ill since about 4am. Throwing up a LOT, and now its just bile and uncontrollable heaving. And Diarrhea bad.
I cant keep any fluids, even a sip of water down.
I called the Dr's office and the lady ( nurse? Receptionist?) said I should be ok.
I told her I felt like I was going to pass out a few times and she said, well thats what happens when you dont eat? Just try to relax , theres a virus going around.
But DH and my Mom think I should go to the hospital.
????
My stomach hurts soo bad and I cant stop the heaving

Re: Should I Go to the ER?
If you think you lost enough fluids than I would go just to get an IV!! Do you have the stomach flu that is going around or morning sickness?

If you don't get better by this afternoon, I would go to the ER.

Re: Should I Go to the ER?
I had that stomach flu when I was 24 weeks and I ended up in the ER taking 2 bags of fluids. Be careful you don't dehydrate, it could cause you to start contracting. Can you keep water down? If not...I suggest you go in. Better to err on the side of caution, I always say.
If you can keep fluids down, try to relax and stick to the BRAT diet until you're feeling better. Bananas, Rice, Applesauce, and Toast.
Feel better.

Re: Should I Go to the ER?
oh no donna. i know there is a really bad stomach virus going around, my mom had it recently. severe vomitting and diarrhea at the same time. maybe you can call back and speak to the doctor and ask if you can take anything. maybe some antidiarrhea medicine. before going to ER is there a way you can insist on seeing your doctor? what about your regular doctor? i would just hate to see you sitting in the ER all day.
i'm sure you need fluids, even though you can't keep them down. maybe some gatorade.
i hope you feel better.

I would go. Dehydration is not good for you or the baby.
Feel better ETA..I am a hypochondriac though, so maybe I am not the best person to answer this question

Re: Should I Go to the ER?
Also...take little sips..not big gulps every couple of minutes because drinking the fluids too fast will make it worse. I would get Pedialyte or Gatorade too!

Re: Should I Go to the ER?
just go, peace of mind is everything. i had the flu with my first PG and the doctor's office kept saying the same thing when i was vomiting and unable to keep even water down and had a 104° fever. i really wish i'd gone to the ER behind their backs and had an IV and just slept. the baby and i ended up fine, but it was really the first time i realized why "flu season" is such a problem.

Re: Should I Go to the ER?
I would say go - especially if you are worried. You have to go with your gut and if you feel like you need to have someone look at you - then definitely do it.
I hope that you feel better!!!

Re: Should I Go to the ER?
It can only help to go. I was only mildly sick at 26 weeks and wound up in L&D because I was dehydrated and it was making my braxton-hicks a lot worse and closer together so I got nervous. They said I was very dehydrated and were giving me giant cups of water and then said it wasn't working fast enough and gave me 2 bags of fluids. I was only there for about 4 hours--not terrible and totally worth it. I called my doc first and they said they'd let the hospital know I was coming (NSUH) so that I could be admitted and brought up to L&D and not have to wait in the ER.
I hope you feel better!

i have to agree!! dehydration and pregnancy are dangerous. they will hook you up to an iv. no big deal and you and the baby will feel alot better.

Re: Should I Go to the ER?
GO!!!!!!!!!this can be a result of all the m/s you have been having. What you are experiencing is exactly what happened to me after 20 weeks of non-stop m/s.
Even a piece of hard candy caused uncontrollable vomiting and heaving and I also felt like I was going to pass out!

Re: Should I Go to the ER?
GO!!! If you normally could keep things down and were ok, then I would say wait it out, but go and get the IV, it will make you feel so much better.
