should i bother?
should i bother testing again or just wait for AF to show?
i am currently on cd49. longest cycle since going off bcp was my first month at 44days. last few months its been more like 39 days. I tested at 12dpo, 14dpo, and 17dpo and got BFN. Tomorrow will be 19dpo. Should I bother testing or just assume its a lost cause at this point and wait it out? I don't wanna get my hopes up and see another bfn, but i really am getting frustrated that AF is not here.
oh and tomorrow night i am supposed to go out to a happy hour with ex coworkers...we always drink a lot when we go out together...
what would u do?

Re: should i bother?
Maybe test again and if it is still a bfn call your doctor and see what they say. Maybe you can at least get a blood test. I'm sorry I don't know what to say.

Re: should i bother?
If possibly seeing a bfn again won't bum you out too much I would test one more time. Good luck!

If I were you, I would test again. If it is a BFN, call the doctor.

Re: should i bother?
I'd just call the doctor and ask for a blood test. Sometimes you hear about women for whom the HPT doesn't work. You just never know.
My cycles would get really long when I had a cyst (it was a chicken and egg problem... the long cycle would cause the cyst which would cause a long cycle) so sometimes my GYN would have me go get a sono to make sure nothing was growing in there. I had a lot of problems with cysts after going off BC, just as I had before going on BC.

thanks for the response! so if you had cysts would u eventually get AF or did you have to have the cysts removed before AF would come?

I have that same problem - not ovulating causes big cysts, and then the big cysts cause even longer cycles. I do always eventually get "AF" (not really a period because I haven't ovulated; it's just that after a couple of months your lining gets so thick it has to shed out), usually about every 2-3 months.
If your cycles are always 40+ days I'd suggest going to an RE to see if you're ovulating. Every now and then it's "normal" to have a long cycle, but when your cycles are consistently over 40, you might not be.

Re: should i bother?
Wait - you're 19 dpo? That's pretty impossible unless you're pg. How do you know you O'ed 19 days ago? Did you get a positive OPK? Or temp?
I get positive OPKs all the time but don't actually ovulate. So one month I might get a + OPK on Sept. 1 but not get my period until Oct. 18. That doesn't mean I'm 49 dpo; it means I didn't actually ovulate after getting a positive test on Sept 1. If you temped and saw a clear temperature shift 19 days ago but didn't get AF... definitely test, and if it's a BFN go see your doc.

yeah no i just used an opk so i know that i may not even have ovulated. it was just an estimation.
Thanks for all the information! I'll prob test one more time in the morning since i have one leftover hpt and either way i will call my dr.
