short naps
My DD is 3 months old now. She can go to sleep on her own, but she only naps for like 35 mins like clockwork! It's exactly 35 mins each time. She wakes up cranky, tired and won;t let me put her down. This is getting really tough on me, as I work from home. She sleeps great at night though, from 8-7 with no night feedings. Is she sleeping too much at night? Is there even such a thing as a baby sleeping too much?
aNy advice on how I can extend her naps? She goes down awake and falls asleep on her own. I have tried putting her down earlier after she wakes up, later after she wakes up and the result is always the same. If I pick her up, she will go back to sleep in my arms but I'd rather not start this habit. I have tried leaving her int he crib for a full hour, she doesnt go back to sleep. She can take like 4-5 naps a day because they are so short and she gets tired so easily and she needs a lot of comfort and holding after she wakes in order to get back to semi-happy self again. I can't imagine that this is the way it should be since she still seems so tired. Any advice?

Re: short naps
She might just be a cat napper. Do you let her lie in the crib after she wakes up before you get her or is she a screaming baby? If she seems tired she definatley needs more sleep - maybe try a mobile or a music cd to help soothe her or swaddle.

Re: short naps
dS was like this until he started getting mobile and crawling, crusing a lot..then he would get real tired and now he takes good 2 naps a day. 1hr-1 1/2 hrs in the am, and then again in the afternoon.
DS had a shirt that said "naps are for wimps" and i really think he thought that b/c he would fight sleeping so much!
at nite, he goes down by 7-7:30 and will sleep until 6am now usually w/o waking, unless he's teething or has an ear infection.

I let her lie in the crib until she starts whining, fussing and the start of crying.

Thanks, this does make sense. I guess I have a few months to go!
