Short luteal phase?
I have to admit I don't understand all that much about the ovulation process. I was very fortunate in getting PG on the first try with DS. That followed (almost 2 yrs later) with getting PG on almost the first try - twice - but unfortunately those pregnancies did not take and I suffered 2 early miscarriages.
I recently started ttc again - second month actually. My cycle has varied between 27 days and 30 days. Last month it was 27 days, which is not typical for me (I'm pretty regular). I've been using those 20-day OPKs and for the first time today got an almost matching line on the test strip.
Is this even possible? A/F is due next Thursday. I BD'd during what I thought was my ovulation week, which was last week.
Just wanted to add I have seen an RE who diagnosed me with 2 blood clotting issues (after tests): MTHFR and heterozygous for a prothrombin gene, which means I'm more like to experience blood clots and that I need to take prescription-strength folic acid, baby asprin, etc.
I have always been pretty regular and predicted my ovulation days in the past. Am I doing something wrong? Could my luteal phase change over time?
What could this be? The OPKs have never worked for me in the past.

Re: Short luteal phase?
As I understand it your luteal phase doesn't really change. Have you been using OPKs all along? It's possible that you are just ovulating a week late for some reason this month (i.e stress, sickness or some other reason). I would wait it out and see how long your luteal phase is this month. You never know, you might end up having a longer cycle this month. Sorry I'm not more help!

Re: Short luteal phase?
I actually have almost the exact same story as yours... Since my losses in Feb and March, I've been tracking my luteal phase and believe it is short. I started taking 250mgs of b6 to try to lengthen it naturally. Today is 10DPO and no AF yet which is already an improvement so maybe give that a shot?

Re: Short luteal phase?
I actually take prescription strength Folgrad, which is extra Folic acid plus the essential B vitamins. That's in addition to my prenatal vitamins. So now I'm like . I don't know. This whole thing is so frustrating. I try not to let this whole process stress me out but it does. If I truly ovulated yesterday, that would give me a luteal phase of only 7 days (if I'm saying this correctly), which doesn't make any sense to me.

I added a B6 supplement to the Folgard because the Folgard only had 10mg of B6 (I take the OTC one though so I'm not sure if the prescription one has more) and I read 200-500mgs is the amount recommended to extend the luteal phase. Just got AF today at 12DPO when last month is was 9DPO and the month before 7DPO so I think it might be helping.
ETA: I have MTFHR too.
