Short LPs?
Does anyone have them on here? What are you doing to correct it? If I get AF when I am supposed to this month my LP is only 8 days. Just wondering if it would be worth using natural progesterone?

Re: Short LPs?
Let's leave tomorrow's worries for tomorrow
Is this your first month using OPKs? If so, you really won't know when your LP is until you actually get AF... so no use in worrying about if it's too short right now.
Yes 8 days is very short - but you may not get AF in 8 days... KWIM? People have gotten pregnant with short LPs... I would see a doctor before going on anything on your own though.. JMO of course!

Re: Short LPs?
I take b6 to lengthen my LP. It has worked so far, but I also have the problem that my LP is extremely inconsistent. One month it is 9 days, another it is 15 days.
I have gotten my LP to be on average 12 days through taking B vitamins.

Re: Short LPs?
i had a short LP and tried the B6 vitamins. it did not correct it. My RE smirked when i told him that i tried that route (i used them for 4 months)...so i'm not positive that it works for everyone...
it IS possible to get pregnant with a short LP...mine never got longer than 8 or 9 days....it hit 10 days the month i got our BFP...

Re: Short LPs?
i wouldnt take anything on your own just yet unless its a vitamin. this is probably something you should track for a few months if you havent previously to see how the LP goes from month to month.
another school of thought...my former gyn whom i love and have been talking to through this process, said she doesnt believe in Luteal phase defects. She thinks the quality of ovulations may be poor and causing a short half of the cycle.
yet another thing to ponder in all this stuff!!

Re: Short LPs?
i took b-vitamin cmplex with b6 for two months before my BFP. the first month it did nothing - my LP was i *think* 8 days (but i wasn't using OPKs so i couldn't be sure. my cycle that month was only 23 days).
my next cycle i O'd on CD 13 and got my BFP on CD 23. no idea what my LP would have been if i didn't get PG - it is possible it would have been the same (23 days) or longer.
it can't hurt to try the vitamins, but i would keep using the OPKs to keep track.

Re: Short LPs?
Yeah you girls are right
I am pretty sure I was ovulating last Monday because my OB said I was from my internal sonogram. AF is due tomorrow and yesterday I felt some cramps so I am just wondering if there is anything I can do to prolong AF showing up if possible.
There is already B6 in my prenatals (15mg) and I have been taking them everyday for the last few months.

that is what my RE was concerned about - not the short LP - but the QUALITY of my remaining eggs....

I will find out today if I ovulated for sure this month. I had a CD21 which was negative and had my blood drawn yesterday on CD29. My OB said if I was not ovulating on my own she would put me on Clomid.
She mentioned if I do have a short LP clomid would correct that as well. Ugh.

LP defect is usually treated with clomid with great success! Good Luck!!
