Shopping advice

One of my coworkers became a grandma for the first time. We wanted to get her a gift to keep at her house for the baby when she visits. We were thinking a mamas ok but I wasn't sure if she would only get a short period of time out of it. We also were thinking maybe a highchair or exercauser. Wee collected around $200 but are willing to supplement to get a great gift. Any suggestions would be great.

That's so sweet of you!

High chair would be great but from experience and tons of schlepping, I think a pack n play would get a lot of use
The munchkins sleep in the top level when they're really little and then that top level comes off and you can use the bottom to sleep in when they're there or can be used as a playpen. They're pretty easy to pack up and move around so it can be used outside if everyone's in the back yard

Hope I'm making sense- pounding headache and really tired

things i wish my mom had (besides pack and play) at her house, like nana does....:

~a stroller for her house- doesnt have to be as fancy as the daughters
~a car seat base or car seat
~a healthy supply of diapers, wipes, bibs, clothes
~an exersaucer or walker of some sort

If yo did a high chair, do a space saver one bc they can be huge and take up a good amount of space, esp if the baby isn't there every day.

A stroller is good for walks. An umbrella stroller is fine and doesn't have to be fancy.

A play mat which can also easily be put away when not in use.

I would stay away from diapers bc if you get size 1 for example, unless the baby is there every day she prob won't go through the whole pack before needing the next size.

A foldable swing would be great. They have bouncer swing combos.

Anything that can be put away and stored easily.

Stroller is great! So if the baby stays by grandma, mom doesn't always have to lug the stroller back and forth.

Re: Shopping advice

My parents watch my dc while I work and they have a pack and play, space saver high chair, stroller, exersaucer, playmat and travel swing. My youngest is 14 months so the things that still get used are the pack and play, high chair and stroller.

both our parents had highchairs for DS. I would say that is the one thing he used/uses the most and for the longest and was the most helpful to have at their homes Chat Icon

Re: Shopping advice

My mom watched my son while I worked a couple days a week. Grandma having a pack and play is great. My mom didnt use a highchair but one of those chairs that connect to the table. She felt it toke up less space and just liked it better. We bought her a jumper because he loved it so much and gave him something to do besides be in her arms. A stroller is also good for walks.
