Shoe shopping ... Does this bother you?
I went to Nordstrom today and asked to try on a pair of shoes. I didn't feel like spending long there, just wanted to try on this one pair of shoes.
I found a man to help me and after about 10 mins he comes back with the pair I asked for, plus 3 or 4 other pairs of shoes in very different styles- though none that I liked. He told me they all just came in and he thought I should try them. I felt bad and he seemed a little insulted when I said I did NOT want to try them.... I just found this annoying. I asked for a pair of shoes, don't start try selling me random pairs of sneaks that just came in. . etc.

No way would that annoy me, I would love that! I'm a terrible shoe shopper, I need people to give me ideas  That has never happened to me and I wish it would!
In your situation it's different, and I think I would have done what you did - say I'm sorry, I appreciate your effort, but I'm in a rush, so no thank you.

I can see being annoyed but as a good saleperson should have done what he did was good.
Just like when you go shopping online and they have "suggestions" items pics after you do a search on an item.

I get annoyed too. VERY rarely do I ever like what they "suggest" for me. I always do a thorough search of the merchandise...the only way I like it is if they bring something from the back that isn't yet displayed on the floor.
sorry if that sounded b*tchy...I just don't like aggressive salespeople.

Nordstroms is known for excellent customer service b/c they do get a commission. Unlike other stores where you can't find someone to help you to save your life.
But, it can be annoying.

I don't like when salespeople bother me. One place I can think of- White House Black Market. Love the store- hate the people that work there.
I hate salespeople like that but I know a lot of women who do like that.

me too..it depends if I have time to be "sold" and if I'm in the mood. Sometimes I am not.

It is because they work on Commission. I used to work at a Nordstrom (different department) but it is a sales tatic.
Sadly what happens is it will cause someone to impulse buy and then return totally screwing their numbers.
To answer your question yes it can be annoying!

This is true, most stores require them to bring out "suggestions" that you wouldn't pick yourself and might like.
Sometimes they'll have the "shoe of the week" or something like that.
Most of the time, I either try it on, just tell them I don't like it or it's not what I'm looking for.
