Seling a Timeshare

Does anyone know anything about selling a timeshare?

My family can't keep up with the maintenance fees and we don't use it at all. I would like to just get rid of it.

I've never sold one, but use Redweek.com to rent extra weeks at my home resort.

I don't think there is a strong seller's market for timeshares - unless. I've seen them priced as low as $1 - people just want to stop paying the maintenance.

Can you try to rent it out so you at least get the yearly maintenance paid for?

Dave Ramsey always recommends a company that will buy timeshares. Timeshare exit team is the name. I have no experience with it though.

It seems timeshares are an awful investment though.

I highly recommend reading on the TUGS forms. Timeshare User Groups.

There is a membership, but you can participate in the forums for free. I believe. OR at least read them for free.

People sell them on ebay too.

Not if you use it. We have two timeshares. One gifted to us by my parents. They had it for our life growing up and it was paid in full and now my sister and I use it. We bank to the weeks and use them elsewhere to travel. most of the time we use our homebase (Hilton Head, SC). We loved it so much, we bought another, which we use every year and plan to gift that to our children when they are older. Its like a paid for vacation every year. For us, even the maintenance on the one that is paid off is less than it would cost us for a week in Disney.

Weve used them in Disney, in Williamsburg, in Hawaii. Makes big trips much more affordable when it comes to lodging.

Not sure if this is an option but I work for a non profit and we have people donate them to us we take over fees, etc and we raffle off weeks to breast cancer patients / survivors.

Well that's good then. I think I read something where a majority of people end up not using them or something but I'm glad you get good use out of it. I was tempted to look into it at one time long ago.

Seling a Timeshare

I bought one on ebay for $1. Guessing that someone did not want to deal with the fees.

Timeshare resale is a horrible market. I would rent your week out like others have said. You can easily do this on many sites, even on Facebook. Where is your timeshare?

I've sold 3 weeks in Aruba.
I've used my "members board" & had no problem selling..although pretty cheap compared to what they were bought for.

Is it legit? I've seen that, even for a penny. I read about people unloading their timeshare for $1 because they couldn't or didn't want to continue paying maintemance. Always wondered if it was legit.
