Seed or sod?
We just had a huge sinkhole filled in our front yard (dont ask), and now trying to decide what to do to replace the grass. Should we seed or sod? If we sod, will it match the grass that is there already? I've been told that we should seed, but want to see if anyone had this experience before the landscaper comes this week.

Re: Seed or sod?
is it too cold for the sod to thrive? there's a lot of watering involved with sod (we had holes filled this spring and sod installed on top)
it does look different - but the sod looks awesome!
we have been seeding the rest of the yard to try to fill in.

Re: Seed or sod?
I've been told by different companies that you can sod any time of the year, but you should only seed in spring and fall.
So, if you want grass now/for the winter...then sod the area. Otherwise you'll have to wait until there isn't a chance of frost.
FWIW, our front lawn was hydroseeded and it looks just as good as my neighbors' who had it completely sodded.
