Second Building on Property as an Apartment
I have a second building that is on my property and is on the original survey. I was wondering if it is possible to convert it into a legal apartment and if so, what steps I would need to do so. It is built to code already, but it is listed on the survey only as a building, NOT an apartment. I live in the town of Brookhaven and have 1.5 acres if this info helps to answer my questions Also- if this is not a possibility, what could happen if the town notices that somebody is living there? Would it be a fine or would I have to take the entire building down?

Honestly I would call the Town and find out exactly what the rules are and how to go about it legally.
Every town is different
