I hope its OK to ask questions, I'll try to keep them to a minimum
why does bailey rub / scratch the floor around his food? Its like he is gathering his food, but its already in a bolw
the other kitten doesn't have this habit

Think it's just instinct to try to cover up their food to save for later. The outdoor neighbor cat we feed does this (whether we feed him outside or in our house) and other cats I've had never did it.
