Is there a scratching phase?
DD is 4.5mths now and I noticed a few scratches on her. I thought it was just her dry skin bothering her but now I notice she scratches everything, the couch, mommy's face, daddy's chest, her books, etc... Anyone else's DC do this?

My DD is 5 months old and she has been doing this for about 2 months. Whats more fun is now she pinches!

I'd love it if it is a phase. DD does a combo pinch that ends in a scratch! Lovely! I don't find many scratches on her face but you should see my face and neck after she's done exploring me! Ah the joys of motherhood.

Jiavana is doing the same exact thing.
When we are lying on the bed and she is looking at me face to face she reaches out and scratches and pinches my face.
I keep her nails short too and she just seems to dig and dig.

Roman is in the slapping phase. Nothing like being woken up by a slap in the face and a giggle.

Re: Is there a scratching phase?
I don't think DD scratches *everything*, mainly just her nose. She's 7mo. They heal in about 2 days, so it's a constantly changing pattern on her nose. Since it doesn't seem to bother her, and they heal so quickly, it's kinda funny. DS did the same thing at around the same age. Luckily, DS got over it, so hopefully DD will to. I think it's a muscle control issue.
