School cutoff spinoff
Does anyone know if I want to hold back my November lo, can she still attend upk? Not for two years or anything, just meaning the year before kindergarten?
Dd was a month premature, pushing her a full school year ahead. We have plenty of time to decide, but I will definitely consider holding her back when the time comes if I think she needs it.

I'm sure you could attend UPK; you'd have to enroll her in kindergarten as a separate process. How old is your LO? Make the decision when it gets closer.
FWIW, DD1's birthday is the day before my district's cutoff. We were in constant contact with her Pre-K teacher to assess her readiness. The teacher felt she was ready and we sent her. She is doing beautifully in kindergarten.

School cutoff spinoff
I just asked my friend about this since UPK applications are out soon and her daughter just turned 3 this Nov and she is planning on holding her back.
Since her b-day is before the cut-off, she's only eligible for UPK this year, not the year that she technically could go to kindergarten.
ETA - so your DC would only eligible for UPK 2 years before you plan on sending them to K and then you would have to pay for a Pre-K program the year before K.

That's exactly what I was worried about. It stinks even though I get they can't let people just do it whenever. I'll be registering my older dd this spring so I'll double check then and see what they say.

My son's friend has this happen. He was a November baby and did UPK the year he turned 4 and then repeated pre-k the following year since his parents kept him back.
UPK needs to be done at a certain age.

This is how it works in my district too. Check your district webpage to see if there's info there. It should be clearly spelled out who is eligible.
