scared...please read

Sorry TMI:

When I went to pee, I wiped some pinkish color. It only happened once earlier today, so far (knock on wood), I have not since then. I'm scared, is this normal? I'm 7 weeks and just had my first sono earlier this week and they said everything looked great and the heartbeat was strong. I don't understand why this is happening and I'm freaking out!! Is this a sign of something bad? Please help.

I had that happen to me too and everything is fine. They said that some women spot in their first trimester. It could also be implantation bleeding. I would call your doctor to let them know what is going on but I am sure that you are fine.

Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon i know it's very very hard but try to relax....i had the exact same thing at the very same week. at weeks 5 and 7 i had a lot of pinkish/brown spotting. i was freaked out beyond belief and even wound up in the ER one sunday. everything was fine (i am 39 wks now) it turned out that it was just old blood and that i had a more sensitive cervix so i just spotted from that in the beginning. the blood was not from the baby or sac. when i looked on this site i was shocked to see how many other women have spotting and even full out bleeding in their 1st trimester. it is so much more common than you think. i wish i had known that then! if your spotting becomes heavier or red and you have cramps then you may really be concerned. keep a check on it and call your dr. if you need to for peace of mind. this is your pregnancy so you need to do whats going to make you feel comfortable. i am sure you and the baby are just fine Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon i'm sure many other ladies on this board will be able to give you some advice and comfort too. Re: scared...please read

This happened to my friend when she was 6w and a few more times at 7weeks. They told her it was implantation bleeding which is very common early on. Don't think implantation is only brown spotting it could be pinkish too.

She was told to monitor it. She needed to call if she was experiencing that the spotting was heavier and cramping.

It's amazing what our bodies will do while pregnant. Some of us have implantation bleeding and some not. I didn't but I did have a gush of brown bleeding at 18 weeks and I was hysterical went down to the ER and the baby was doing just fine. They discovered it was a placenta condition that correct itself later on. I'll be 22 weeks Wed and havent spotted since.

Just take it easy and follow the advice of your dr. Also don't try to compare you pg to others (I did) and it drove me insane. I learned everyone's pg is different. Like I said some people will bleed on and off throught there pg and dr's can't even explain why. Chat Icon

if you do a search on here you'll see that its kind of common to have spotting during the first trimester. Sometimes its implantation, stretching, dehydration, drink extra fluids and try not to stress. if it continues or gets bright red & heavier call your doc for peace of mind.

Thanks ladies - as I said, it happened that one time today. Hope it was nothing. I just was surprised since my sono was good, but you never know.

It's normal for some women to have that early in their pregancy. It happened to me at about 8 wks. It concerned me too so I was checked out by my doctor and it turned out everything was fine. When in doubt, call your doctor. Chat Icon Chat Icon

I had the same thing happen at about 5-6 weeks. It only happened that one time and I never had any other issues the whole 9 months.

This happened to me last week (at 15 weeks). I went to the doctor and all is well. It is worth checking in with your OB, but don't worry too much!

Thank you all. I hope it was a one time thing, but I am checking frequently. If it stops for good, I won't call the ob, but will mention it at my appt next week. Otherwise, if I see it again, I will call. A friend of mine also told me it could be implantation - I was under the impression that happens right after ovulation, but she said it could be that it's planting itself further in and that normally happens at this time. I really hope that is all it is, but I will pick up the phone if I see it again. Thanks for sharing your stories, I really cannot wait to get out of this first trimester although I have been lucky enough to dodge morning sickness so far. I almost would rather have that than see spotting though.
