Scared to DEATH -
The closing is fast approaching.
I know I should be excited, and I am.
But, I'm so nervous. I don't even know why exactly. I'm just scared of all the bills - we have never had our own home before. I have never had to pay for alllllll those things you don't think of like electric and water. When we paid the rent we paid it was all inclusive.
Other than that, I keep thinking about all the little things - like I don't have hand towels. I am going to have people over for parties and I have no hand towels?!! I mean, there's all these things you forget that you have to buy!
Sorry to be freaking out a little. Did anyone else feel this anxiety?!!

Deep breaths! It is scary, but you will manager. You just create a system of some sort and you will ALWAYS check for drippy faucets, shut lights off, use energy efficient appliances and bulbs, find ways to save any way you can.

Re: Scared to DEATH -
Oh yes maam. I calculated and calculated all the bills over and over to make sure we would have enough money. And of course you won't have everything at first. But people are kind and they give you house warming gifts and it's easier to see what you need when you get in it, instead of figuring before. It does get a little overwhelming, but... It's so worth it when it's your own. Don't stress too much good things are coming and many shopping trips to Homegoods are on your horizon

Re: Scared to DEATH -
Yes. I felt that way too. I had a knot in my stomach for MONTHS - the entire time we were going through the process of looking at houses, making offers, crunching numbers, I was insanely nervous....between the higher bills (we were used to rent and the utilities on a 1 bedroom apt not a mortgage and utilities for an entire house!), moving out of state and doing it all on 1 income was really scary...
We are 6 months in and we are doing great - so much less stressful than I ever could have imagined...
I think most people go through these feelings....but don't forget to enjoy!

I was more nervous the day of closing than I was the day I was induced with my son! It all works out though so try not to stress too much

It is really scary so don't feel like you're different. But I'm sure you guys planned this out so you know that you can do this. The first month or so is a little tricky as you start to set everything up and figure what bill will come when and when it is due. But after about 3 months, you'll find a groove and will LOVE homeowership!!

Re: Scared to DEATH -
Thanks everyone! I'm so glad I'm not alone in this.
You know, when we were going through the mortgage process I realized how strict they now are -- especially vs. in the past. They really account for every last cent and they question everything. So, I know in my heart that we are financially secure for this.
We have gone over the budget 100 times. It's just scary either way, I guess. But, once we get in we'll just have to take it day by day.
It was like when Ken was hurt -- I didn't worry about tomorrow, I didn't think about/regret yesterday. I just took everything as it came at me.
You can prepare the best you can but no matter what, you just have to stay in the moment and try to be calm!
I'm going to remind myself of that haha!

Re: Scared to DEATH -
I think my anxiety about having all those bills is keep us from actually finding anything we like! I can imagine how you are feeling !
