Scan It! at Stop and Shop
Our stop and shop just got this. Has anyone used it?

It is AWESOME.
I actually look forward to food shopping now- its like a fun video game! 
Plus you don't have to put all your stuff up on the belt and then bag it when you pay-you just scan, pay and go...because you bag stuff as you shop.
Totally awesome concept!
Tip- bring the "green bags" or whatever kind of reusable shopping bag you can- makes it easier than struggling with the plastic bags while shopping and scanning and bagging...

It's a lot easier than waiting in lines or doing self-scan.
Even doing produce is easy with the new electronic scales they have in the produce department.
The e-coupons are tailored to your purchase history, so you're more likely to get a discount on an item you buy.
I've tried it out in the Holbrook and Riverhead stores, and I wish my local S&S had it, but I really don't think it would go over well in that store.

I tried it when mine got it a few months ago and did not like it. I felt like it took longer to scan each individual item and bag it then doing it all at the same time at check out. I don't plan on using it again.

DH loves the silly scanner!!! its very easy to use, and I love that you can take things off easily to. It save time, and we have been using our green bags for awhile.
oh down side is (which isn't really the end of the world) but if you use the traditional checkout u get a discount for using green bags, and you can also use competitors coupons. But we weren't able to use them or get a discount. again, not the end of the world, I'm still not very good at using coupons, but I think they should figure out a way to allow these, since a lot of people use the competitors coupons there

I have a love hate relationship with it. My kids LOVE to scan, it keeps them busy when I bring them with me. I love to see my running total when going thru, I HATE bagging as I go. That is time consuming. I only do it when I know I will have time to spend doing things myself.
ETA: Re coupons, when you check out they do credit you for the reuseable bags and coupons. All you have to do is point them out.

I did it for the first time on Friday & OMG, I am in love! It was so easy to scan & bag the items the way that I like!!!! I definately did see some savings & I liked the feature that you could keep seeing what your total was before checking out! I can't wait to see how it tailors my "special coupons" in the weeks to come.
Plus having to NOT wait on line was great! When I was done, I just went to the "self-checkout" did my coupons & then credited myself for my "green bags" & out the door....I was getting so tired of shopping & waiting on lines bc cashiers were so slow. Not to mention having associates bagging your stuff & not realizing that the insulated bags are for COLD items  It was becoming annoying

With the green bags and regular manufacturer's coupons, you do not even need to call them over for that.
After you scan your card on the self-scan to finish your order, you can scan coupons as well as put in how many reusable bags you used (in most stores, you hit the "Produce/No Barcode" button).
The competitor coupons as well as some other coupons, you do need someone to scan them in though.

You can use the competitor coupons still- you just have to go to a regular check out versus self.
And you can still get your 5 cent off per green bag there too
And of course- self or regular check out- you can use your manfacuter coupons

Only on the coupons that pop up on the scanner as you are shopping- that helped a bit...

i love it!
yes it takes longer as you are shopping but I only touch my groceries twice...once off the shelf then at home out of the bag onto my shelves.

i do the same thing...just call over the self-scan attendant with my competitor's coupons, they have no problem coming over and putting it through for me. I never use a regular checkout counter anymore...I only use scan it or self checkout

It is really cool, but I think they have to make new carts that can hold the bags on racks like at the end of the checkout. It's a little tricky with things in your hands, opening and bagging items and juggling a coffee too LOL It's fun though! DH had fun, so that's a plus to me!

They have clips to hold the bags open on the sides of the cart.

I used it for the first time yesterday and I loved it.
It's much faster, plus it keeps a running total of your groceries so you know how much you have spent.
It also gives you discounts on certain items that you wouldn't get without the scanner.

The S&S in Ronkonkoma has this but I haven't tried it yet, I fear change.
I usually shop at the Islandia store tho; I overheard the manager there saying that not all of the stores are getting it and that's one of them.

Yes I am terrible at this too... and when you are bagging as you go, you can't really pack well and plan like you can when it's all at the end of the belt and you can pick and choose what goes in which bag etc...
But it's FUN and I love it anyway!
