Savings if you own a home
Those who own a home, how much do you currently have in your savings account? We have one we don't touch at all but have to use a big chunk of it for a once in a lifetime opportunity, so I am just curious?

In my case we keep spending our savings on renovations and buying things for the house. (BQ, patio set, shed,....so there is always something we need to spend $$ on)
I cant wait until our house is done and we can really build up savings.

our general rule is try to have at least 3 month's salary saved, because in this economy it's good to have that safety net. We got money back from our taxes last year that we put into savings, though we would've preferred to use it towards our debts. But again, it's good to have a safety net.

My husband and I are lucky enough to have jobs that offer TONS of OT - so we both typically work an extra 15 hours per week just to build up our savings and then the money we save we use to pay for our home renovations.
Is it hard and physically exhausting to work that much extra each week? Absolutely! But we feel that it's worth it in then end. Plus we don't have kids yet which makes everything easier.

We purposely bought a small house that needs minor work(so far) so we could have a nest egg. My worst fear is overly worrying about $$.

We have a nice amount of savings. We own a home (2bdrm coop), but are planning on buying a larger home so it is a good thing we have the savings we do
