SATC fans...? about the Carrie Diaries
I'm confused, i started watching the carrie diaries, this is supposed to be a prequal to SATC right? In 6 seasons on HBO i never remember them mentioning Carrie having a younger sister? And i thoughy her dad left when she was little? I remember an episode of SATC where she had an old picture of her dad and that was all she had of him. In the carrie diaries she's a teenager living with her dad?
Are the story lines totally different?

SATC fans...? about the Carrie Diaries
It's funny because in SATC they never really gave any background on their childhood. I certainly don't remember carrie's past ever being brought up. All I remember is Samantha grew up on a farm, worked at a DQ.

In SATC Carrie is having dinner with that male Vogue editor and she ttalked about her dad leaving her and her mother. She says it was just her and her mother. Later on she asks Miranda if it as simply as her dad abanding her and she has no clue about men.
She also never mentioned a sister.

Yes I thought it was really weird also. Carrie (SATC) mentions her father walking out on her and her mother when she was a kid and there is never a mention of a sister ever...

I think they're taking many creative liberties, because they need to add more characters into the mix or it will be boring.

its based on a series written by candace bushnell
im guessing that all the stuff that the writers of satc the show added about their backgrounds was what they decided to make up. not necessarily what candace bushnell had in mind.
but i have not read any of the books so im just speculating on that

Yes.
The REAL satc - the pieces that Candance Bushnell would write for the NY Observer and later became published into a book - is not like the tv show or the carrie diaries.
The book was very dark...dirty, in a way...if you've read it, you know what I mean.
There was no Charlotte, but there was a Miranda and I think there was a Samantha, but neither were at all like their characters on the show. They also weren't all besties in the book.
I've read that book a million times and all of Bushnell's other books.

It was boring I thought. I don't think it will be picked up. I watched it as a colleagues child was an extra in the show, but it doesn't look like this show will amount to much.

Exactly. I read the book and had to stop at the 2nd chapter because the stories were different and I didn't like that.
