Salem Mass
Thinking about taking a trip with my husband. We are thinking Salem Massachusetts. We would be going in October so I'm sure its all decorated for Halloween. Anyone been there before? where do you stay??

I haven't been but have a friend who used to go this time every year and she says it is completely insane and very crowded. I'd start looking into places to stay asap

Thanks!! I know I have to book ASAP, I started looking today and like every weekend in a lot of places is unavailable! Thanks for your response and help.

DH and I did Salem, MA a few years ago during Halloween. It is a complete zoo the last week of October and hotels in all of Salem were booked that entire weekend or charging crazy fees for a single room so we ended up staying in either a Marriott or Embassy Suites in Peabody. We were there the entire weekend.
I think we booked it around August - Peabody is only a 15 minute drive from all the Salem attractions so it wasnt an issue, plus our hotel had a ton of people priced out Salem too. The only sucky part was parking - if you drive straight into the heart of the village where all the museums are, you wil hve to park in their municipal lot which filled up by 10 am every day. There is a lot to see and do, we took 2 days to see it all. The lines for the Witch musem are VERY LONG so be prepared to wait even if you arrive at 9 am. Enjoy!

I lived up in that area and wouldn't go near Salem during October. Halloween is beyond huge there and people come from all over.

We have been, but not during Halloween. Honestly, most of the attractions seemed geared towards children.

I have been during Halloween, before children and honestly, it's actually NOT geared towards children at all. In fact, so much so that as much as I want to go back, I feel much of it may not be appropriate or ok for my child.
