SAHM's when do you plan to go back to work/school..if ever?

Im a SAHM just looking into the future a little, I was thinking of what Im going to be doing with all my spare time with the kids go to school. I would like to go back to school.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE being a SAHM, but, I am NOT the type of person who can sit home and wait for the kids to get out of school.
I plan on looking for something from like 9-2 or 9-3, something like that.
I worked in daycare, so, if I can't find a teacher aide position (or anything) with those hours, I'll go back to daycare.
Can't wait to bring in a paycheck again.
I have a while though, so, in the meantime, I'll enjoy my moments home.

Right now I have zero plans to return to work any time in the foreseeable future. Maybe once all of my kids are in elementary school I may go back to teaching but just as a substitute so I can still take off when I need to and I won't miss any of their school events. For now though, going back to work (if I do) is years and years away...........and I am perfectly content with that!

I've been home 4 yrs now and don't have any immediate plans to go back.

I know a lot of people say "once the kids are in elementary school", but in reality it's actually tricky-- unlike the early years where you have a full time daycare scenario or nanny, now you need to arrange before-care, after-care, plus arrangements for the many school holidays, half days, snow days, etc. Never mind after-school activities like sports, dance, scouts.

So for us, we think our lives will be simpler if I stay home and am available for the kids.

I swore I would never go back to work the minute I had my first child! I was so not cut out to work FT. Besides, I had worked more than 10 years in my field, so I felt as if I put my time in. I was done so to speak!

However, for my sanity, and the fact I was working for a great company when I had my kids, I was offered to work part time around my schedule. It has turned out to be the best of both worlds. I work when I can, which basically means that if both kids were in school and I had nothing scheduled, I would work. I am home when the kids are home and I am flexible enough to do things with them too when the time warrants. I am off the weeks they are off and I am home with them over the summer. This past school year, I would drop my kids at school, work for a few hours, and leave to pick them up. Everything was around their schedule, which was so busy with karate, soccer, t-ball, etc.

I am a licensed engineer, so working helps me keep current in my field and keeps my license up to date. I also make excellent money, enough to support the family entirely on my own should something ever happen to DH. That's huge. You just never know and I feel comfortable knowing that if he should ever be out of work or sick, I can pick up just like that.

I should also mention that working is like a field day for me! I have great friends at work, we lunch together, go to happy hour, meet for dinner after work, etc. It's a nice little escape from the whines and cries of my normal day!

I'll be back in September when DD is 11 months. There are many reasons; I like having disposable income and being able to do whatever I want to do. I want to save for a larger house. I want to have another child and stay home longer when the time comes.

I'm a teacher and get 2 years of leave per child. I have great job security and right now don't want to jeopardize it.

We are taking it year by year. I have a business out of the house, if I can keep it going and growing I won't go back to an office.

I would love to be here when DS gets off of the school bus and during summer vacations.

I am currently working on my real estate license, which I hope will allow me a lot of flexibility. I really don't want to go back to a M-F, 9-5 type job...I hated it....I swear I should have been born in the 50's.

I currently work p/t for my sanity 2 days a week but consider myself a SAHM for the most part.

I plan on returning to work when my kids are in school f/t. I will most likely go back to school before than.

We're not sure...I'm hoping I can do full-time when they're in elementary school because by then my ILs will be retired and can help us with after school/sports/events, etc.,

Part of me wants to stay home until they go to college, though. Our boys most likely won't WANT me home during their teenage years, but I think that's when they'll NEED me home. My parents (and friends' parents) always worked and we had free roam to do whatever we wanted after school -- I very seriously plan to be all up in my kids' business when they're teenagers -- they may hate me but I feel like it's my job and the most important one I'll ever have...

I maintain my license & my business so I have it to fall back on - the flexibility works well for a mom, but its not a passion of mine (real estate appraising).

If finances continue as they have been, I'd more likely throw myself into volunteering rather than going back to a full time career once the kids are in school.

I plan on getting some kind of vocational certificate in something since I would really never consider going back to assistant, too many hours.

would like resp therapy or something as a back up plan.

I am looking way to forward to the days when the kids are gone and I am free.

I plan on going back to school in Sept. I'm almost done w/ my degree and I just keep putting it off.

I work 1/2 days a week now. I plan on working more when they are both in school. I wish I could work more now but we really prefer that our children are with family, so we are very limited.

I like to work, I need to work for my own sanity. I'm not really the type of person who could just stay home.

I hope I don't have to. I have about 4 more years to go though. I want to be able to participate in my DD's school. I also want to be home when they get home. So if I did work it would be part time with in school hours.
