SAHM - Do you do activities with DC all day?
I am worried that I won't keep him entertained enough. Oh how my worries shift

Re: SAHM - Do you do activities with DC all day?
We play a lot inside...and outside. She LOVEs to be outside. We've got a decent sized backyard and she loves to swing in the hammock and collect rocks, explore the dirt.
We'll go for walks. We've started going back to the aquarium once a week.
We'll walk to the park. Read...watch tv.
We dance and listen to music a lot.
I also do Music Together once a week (might cancel this session though)
We travel to see our friends and have playdates a lot.
This winter we'll be doing gymnastics and swimming

We try to stay busy---at least get out a little but each day.
We go to open play at places, the park, library, indoor playground at the mall etc.

Re: SAHM - Do you do activities with DC all day?
Do you mean taking them to classes or do you mean am I playing with them all day?
They both go to school 3 days a week for half the day, and we do a library program 1 other day a week.
At home I don't play with them all day, I wanted them to learn to play alone and with each other. But I'm always very nearby so I can listen in and step in as needed.

DD is only 11 months and when I'm home with her we usually meet up with friends, go to open play, go to the park or just hang out at home.

Ryan is only 3 months. But we are busy all day usually.
We are also part of a moms group. We typically do at least one activity a week with them.
When he is a little older I want us to do music together.

Re: SAHM - Do you do activities with DC all day?
DS is one tomorrow so ....
DS takes two good naps per day -- so if we are home all day, that is a big chunk of the day (10:30 - 12:30 or longer) and again (3:30-5:30 ish) ....
He gets up at 8:30 ish ... so in the AM's we have bottle & breakfast, play a bit, he will sit in a high chair if I need to shower/clean up.
After nap, we have bottle/lunch - then off to the park to play with friends or up to the avenue to windowshop or just run errands.
Nap time again, then bottle/dinner, lots of playing. Daddy comes home and plays some more.
Around 8:30 it's time for bath/bottle/bed
Our days vary though - we do Mommy and Me one day
at least once a week, if not more we get together with friends/relatives from all over (Long Island, Westchester, Queens, Staten Island, Brooklyn, New Jersey) so we're always traveling or having company.
My dad pops in after work sometimes for a visit (midafternoon).
I'm trying to think what else we do ... some days we walk the mall for a few hours walk the neighborhood for a few hours, we visit my mom at work - she works at a senior center and the seniors love Vincent, then we go to lunch we also play in the backyard and visit our elderly neighbor who adores him.
Our days are busy, some more than others. I try to schedule 'home time' a few days a week though because he takes 2 naps and I don't want to take that away from him. I don't think its fair. So if we are busy a few days ina row, we take a day to just chill out at home.
When we are home, he plays really nicely by himself. Today, I actually read a few chapters from my book while he happily played at my feet.

Same here. I really did want her to learn to be good at independent play and I'll be honest...I stink at "playing". It's just not my forte as a parent. I can color for a little bit and read but to get down and play is really not my thing. DD now goes to school 4 days a week for 4&1/2 hours a day and usually has a play date one day a week before school and Fridays is either an at home/errand day or a play day with friends. Oh and she has dance one day a week before school. Before she had school and when I was working PT we did play dates, gymnastics, story time, etc mixed with time at home. I think it's important for kids to have down time and realize life isn't "fun" 24/7 and for me that's where the independent play comes in. She can play and keep herself busy while I make dinner, do some laundry, clean, etc.
