Sachem School District
I have a first and third grader in Sachem. Unfortunately, the district is in financial trouble, and are shutting down 3 schools this year, which is making the remaining schools that much bigger next year. My children are moving schools, and their school will have approximately 700 students in it next year. Because Sachem didn't do an entire re-district, there are some schools that have remainined untouched with 400-500 students per school. Because we are not in middle school/high school yet, I really have no information on that, but keep in mind, there is one middle school closing. Because of their financial trouble, I have a feeling more school closings will be coming within the next 2-3 years if enrollment does not approve. With all that being said, we do still like Sachem, and my children and have had some outstanding teachers. We have been involved with numerous youth sports programs within the district and have no complaints about any of them.

Unfortunately, a lot of school districts are in financial trouble and are closing schools. Enrollment is down across the Island and you will notice a lot of districts are closing schools. I'm in the neighboring district and we have 2 elementary schools closing as well. I specifically bought my house for the schools. Just because they are closing doesn't make it a bad district or one to shy away from.
That being said, my 2 best friends live down the block from each other in the Sachem district and both love it.

Re: Sachem School District
We are in Sachem school district. My daughter went to Pre-K there and I absolutely loved her class and teacher. This year, her class size is a bit big and that is a concern of mine going forward (along with the financial issues the district is having) but her teacher is excellent and the principal there is amazing so overall she's had no issues and it's a wonderful school. I'm happy so far.

Only in K but so far love it. Yes, there are school's closing and financial issues but as others have said, it's like that in a lot of districts on LI lately. I can't speak much since we are only in K now, but so far, so good

We are in Sachem school district. My daughter went to Pre-K at Waverly and I absolutely loved her class and teacher. This year, she's back at Waverly and I'm still happy. Her class size is a bit big and that is a concern of mine going forward (along with the financial issues the district is having) but her teacher is excellent and the principal there is amazing so overall she's had no issues and it's a wonderful school. I'm happy so far.
who was her teacher?
