RSV at 8 months
My 8 month old DD has been diagnosed with an ear infection and RSV. We are on day 4 of it so far. She is on antibiotics and a decongestant and we are about to start using a nebulizer (just got it today with the RSV results).
I'm breastfeeding and she is not in daycare or around other children so this was a little shock for me. She's been coughing and is extremely congested.
Anyone have any advice or tips? I try not to google it because it looks so scary.

Re: RSV at 8 months
It’s just a regular cold in adults. Anyone coughing around her around the new year? It stinks! Can’t prevent everything. Hope she’s better soon!

RSV at 8 months
my twins had RSV at 8 months and again 1 twin has it now. They don’t go to day care so I never understood either. Use the humidifier it’s a lifesaver. Also a steam shower. We received steroid shots (decadron) plus antibiotics, liquid steroids and the nebulizer. Both babies were in the hospital for breathing. One twin developed a 104 fever and was back in the hospital. I washed all toys in shifts, all blankets, sheets and we used hand sanitizer like crazy. At night they slept in our room with a window cracked for cold air and the humider. DH and I were also very sick the first time we all were barely functioning. Good luck and I hope she gets better soon!

I am sick now with a horrible cold. I got my symptoms exactly when my DD started coughing. So maybe I picked something up and gave it to her without realizing it.

Nah. Both of you probably got it at the same time. So very contagious. One thing I remember about RSV was to sit baby up and tap on the back pretty hard up and down. Helped lungs. Keep up with meds. Will be over soon. Good luck. It always goes around at this time of year :(

DS had RSV at 3 months old and then again at 14 months. It's very scary but also very common. Like a PP, I also used steam showers and the humidifier. Also, try to keep her propped up as much as possible. And don't beat yourself up - all kids get sick, it's definitely not your fault. Hang in there momma!

Someone probably passed it onto one of you first. It presents as a cold in adults so you wouldn’t even know it’s rsv. Hope she’s better soon. Just watch her breathing because even with the neb, she can still have issues.
