RP: BTDT moms and working moms WWYD
So I am having my 2nd DD due Sept 24. I have a DD that is currently 21 months. I am not planning on returning to work but a lot of people advised me not to tell my boss so I havent. I basically told him that it is up in the air depending on how everything goes and if my mom, who watches my DD now, can handle the two etc. So I told him my last day would be Sept 17. Which is really dumb on my part, because that gives me a week to really relax before my due date, with the thought that I will go on time or late. I really have been thinking it over and want to take more time off before the baby one, to get things done that I have not, won't be able to by then, being huge and uncomfy, and two to spend some quality mommy and baby time with my little girl. So my question is would you ask to take leave earlier, and then tell him ive been thinking and dont think i am goign to come back thinking about how tough it was with one, now having a toddler and newborn, not thinking my mom can handle it, breastfeeding, etc. or just tell him i am taking my leave earlier, and then wait until baby is born to tell him. Or just keep it where it is and tell him when I am on leave, or tell him before either way.

Since you seem to have already decided you are not going back..I'd tell him now and add in that your changing your last day...

I don't think one should influence the other. Let him know when you want to work until and during your leave (probably in the last month of it) share you're not coming back.
I would never quit before leave. Even if you're 100% sure you're not returning, god forbid something happened (DH lost his job, etc.) and you need to return - you want to keep that option available to yourself.

but what happens during that time insurance wise? I am in CT and only work for a one attorney office so none of the FMLA apply. I think i read he can make me pay back my insurance if i dont come back? Not saying he will but how does that work? and then I need to arrange for insurance. He only pays mine, and I pay my DD's. Also I do not get paid for my leave.
