Root canal question
I am having root canal on Thursday, will I be in a lot of pain afterwards? Will I have to take the next day off of work? I am sooo scarred of going to the dentist and also being in pain.

I agree. Take some Tylenol or Advil before and you should be fine. Maybe a little sore in the jaw, but ok.

same here.
i just take 2 advil before i go to the dentist, and i'm fine.
i would avoid tylenol though since its a blood thinner.

Re: Root canal question
yeah, root canal's are overrated when people talk about pain, etc... don't get me wrong, there will be some discomfort after the med's run off but in a few short hours after the process, you will feel great.
dentist may even perscibe you medicine to take afterwards...i'm not sure...if not, over the counter stuff will be just fine

Re: Root canal question
advil is a better choice for most dental work. most root canals do not hurt, unfortantely people don't talk about the good ones. They only complain about the bad.

Re: Root canal question
As long as you didn't experience any severe pain before the procedure (exposed nerve pain) you will be fine...advil works the best or you can ask the dentist to prescribe you some kind of pain killer if its really bead.

You'll be fine afterwards... it's during that you will be "uncomfortable".

Re: Root canal question
I came to find out after my botched root canal that you really SHOULDN'T feel much pain afterward. If you do, something's wrong.
I won't go in to my experience, but I wish someone would have told me that I shouldn't be having the amount of pain that I did.

You should be fine, your mouth may be a little sore but any OTC medicine will make it feel better

Re: Root canal question
I have to say the pain during was worse than the pain afterwards- I am a big baby who doesnt tolerate pain well- I admit that I went home took pain meds that they gave me and I slept! Luckily I did it during the summer so I didnt have to go to work the next day- (im a teacher) but I wasn't feeling like doing anything...

I took the day off the day I had it done because they drugged me up afterwards.
The next day I was fine.

Re: Root canal question
I am root canal queen. Just take advil before the novacaine wheres off and you should be ok. Somtimes for me I would be sore to chew on it so just try to avoid the area and if need be take advil every 6 hours till you feel zero pain.
