Roomba vacuum...worth it?

A friend of mine has one and LOVES it. She has bamboo floors and it gets everything. It cleans while she is at work and she comes home to a clean floor!

I find it better on carpeting, but maybe that's because I have area rugs on my wood floors. I didn't think it picked up well going between the two different levels, so now I keep it upstairs and just use it on carpeting. It is pretty good - it picks up lots of the hair from my two hairy cats - but I have to constantly empty it as it's cleaning.

We have a roomba and love it on our wood and tile floors. It works better on the hard surface that it does on carpet, IMO.

i love mine, our dog sheds like crazy and its great for quick weekday cleanups. i put it on before i go to work.

This reminds me of a story I heard on XM, where a couple left the roomba on all day and their dog had accident that got smeared all over the rug.

I luv my Rooma but...
1. It's a huge pain to clean. Sometimes I spend more time cleaning it than I would have spent vacuuming.
2. It doesn't clean the carpets well all of the time. I was using it in our apt for about 6 months. I finally bought a regular vacuum. The first time I used it, an entire bag was filled. Makes me wonder how much the Rooma was actually picking up.
3. After having our Rooma for about a year, the battery will now only stay charged for about 5 minutes.
Regardless of these issues, it's still super convenient and definitely a conversation starter when friends come over.
