Robitussin- Question

Hey! I am new to the TTC board. My son is 9 months and we are already ready for another one. I have noticed a lot of posts about taking Robitussin. Should I take the regualr one and when and how often should I be taking it? Any other suggestions would help!

Re: Robitussin- Question

Take the one that says "expectorant" on it. I took 2 tablespoons every couple hours the entire week of O and a day or two after and i got a BFP both times doing it

I couldn't find the regular one either in the Robitussin brand, I just bought the CVS brand today.

Re: Robitussin- Question

do you have a problem with producing EWCM...

you can also take Mucinex instead of Robitussin

I found mucinex to be much more effective than Robitussin.

You can use either - it just has to say "expectorant" on it and NOT "suppresant".

I just bought Musinex Expectorant. It's the only brand I could find where the ONLY active ingredient was guaifenesin (say that fast three times!)

Hey I've been doing some research on this. I read that the DM ingredient can cause birth defects. I will try to cut and paste the article that said it.
ETA:
I got this from In-gender.com...
"Even if you find a Robitussin cough syrups with guaifenesin, you'll find it's combined with additional active ingredients, which may reduce the effectiveness of guaifenesin in thinning cervical mucus, and could even have adverse effects on fertility.
Dextromethorphan (DM) is a common ingredient found in cough syrups. This ingredient may be linked with birth defects and should be avoided when trying to conceive."
