Returning Very Old Clothes?

I received a bag of clothes that were all hand-me downs. The clothes were never worn- still have tags and hangers even! But they are at least 8-10+ years old. The carter's tags look so antique!! I would just keep them all, but some of outfits are so out-of-season for when my DD would be wearing them and one or two outfits were just not my taste. I tried returning some, thinking I could get a little store credit back to use towards some other things I needed. When I went to carter's they looked at them and said "this looks like it is from the 90's. These are at least 10 years old, we can't take these back". So is that it, I can't return them? Is there anywhere else that might take back baby clothes? I figured the actual carter's store would be the best bet... I guess I can donate them, but I was just wondering if there were any other options for me.

I doubt any store would take back clothes from almost 10 years ago. It just doesn't make sense...they wouldn't be able to resell it.
I say donate them

I'm not surprised they wouldn't take it back. You may as well give them away since they were given to you anyway...

I don't think any store will take them back I would either donate them to the church or save them for a frind and let her use them as spare things

I would think probably not ~ I would probably just donate them if you can't use them.

Maybe you can sell them on a buy/sell group on Facebook?

Re: Returning Very Old Clothes?

If you don't want them, then I would donate them for the tax write off. When DD was born she received one of those bunting things (actually 4 of them). It had a carter's tag too so I took it to the store and was told that it was about 8 years old so no they would not take it back. I ended up donating it.

Most stores have a return policy - and 10 years is definitely outside of that policy. How could they sell it again?

I'd either give it to another pg friend or donate it to charity. There are plenty of babies who are in need of clothes.

You can probably also sell them to Once upon a child, they don't pay much but you'd get more than donating them...

you can try ebay or going to a consignment shop to see if they would buy it from you.

Re: Returning Very Old Clothes?

It wouldn't even cross my mind that they could be returned.

They were free. If you do nto want them then why not donate them.

I didn't know they were that old until I tried to return them... she pointed out the antique tags and I honestly hadn't even noticed...
