Retrival and Transfer
Hey Ladies,
How long after egg retrieval is the transfer? Sorry I am new to all this and was just told that my retrieval may be on Monday.

If your ER is Monday, that is considered day 0. You will either have a day 3 or day 5 transfer. Your day 3 transfer would be Thurs and a day 5 transfer would be Sat.

it depends
you can have a 3 day transfer or a 5 day transfer...

embryo quality & # of embryos on day 3 for the most part. They'll usually call you in the morning on day 3 and let you know if it'll be that day or if it's being pushed to a day 5.

I actually asked for a 3DT. They were going to do a 5DT. I was told that the embies have a better chance of making it to freeze w/ a 3DT. My insurance was only paying for IVF 1X so I really needed some to freeeze in case the 1st time didn't work. I spoke w/ the dr and she agreed.
Other things like embryo quality and other factors can also influence the decision.

ITA.
My clinic has specific criteria for doing a 3 day vs. a 5 day that has to do with how many embryos there are and how they are progressing.
We were called on the morning of day 3 and told that we were being pushed to a day 5 because ALL of our embryos were doing well (we had 12 at the time).
Clinics usually also have specific criteria for freezing... mine typically doesn't freeze on day 3.
