Retirement age?

Of course, nobody can predict the future, but barring any unforeseen happenings (either good or bad), when would you like to retire?

I would love to retire: now. I could definitely occupy my mind without having to go to work

I would realistically like to retire by: 55 or so. DC will have their 4 year degree hopefully, and I will hopefully have enough saved.

I'm probably going to retire by: 62. Not sure if I'll have quite enough saved by 55. I'd like to retire as young as possible so I can enjoy my retirement, but not so early that I have no money to spend.

My husband will be eligible to retire at 55 with his pension so that is our love to and likely to retire game plan. I will be 54 at that time.

DH can start collecting his pension at 58. I will be 57 at that time.

I would love to be able to retire then BUT we probably will not. I would like DH to keep working until 62 when his pension maxes out.

I will probably work until I am 67 when my Social Security benefit maxes out.

I'm in the NYS retirement system and can retire after 25 years of service, or age 55 (whatever comes first). Between my lifeguarding job that credited me about 1.5 years, and my teaching experience, I will have 25 years of service by age 47, but have to work until 55 to get my full retirement. I plan to retire as soon as I am eligible, and will probably tutor or something on the side when I'm done

My husband is already retired, but because of a disability.

I would love to retire : today
I would like to retire by : age 60, 9-1/2 years from now.
I'm probably going to retire by : whenever I feel that I have enough saved to live out the rest of my years comfortably, without having to worry about running our of money. I'd like that to be no more than 65 so that I can still enjoy the rest of my life.

I have health insurance thru DH's union and I'm covered as long as he is alive. That's what would allow me to retire early.

Since I don't work, I'll answer for DH based on what we've discussed. Based on his career and where he's headed with that:

He would love to retire by - 55
Realistically, he'd like to retire by - 58 to 60
Probably going to retire - around 60

We'd like him to retire as soon as possible so we can enjoy our time together once the kids are grown and on their own.

I would like to retire when I'm 56 (in 12 years). That's when I'm eligible for full pension.
I will likely retire when I'm 60 - after DD is done with college.

I would love to retire: I'll say now although in an ideal world I would still like to continue working (a different job) part time for a while longer.

I'm probably going to retire by: I am hoping by 62 but we'll see. Hopefully not much later than that.

I'd like to retire when DH does. He is eligible in 7 yrs. He won't retire for another 10 (min).
Since I have been a SAHM for the past 5 yrs, it's only likely to happen soon if I win the lottery. Counting the yrs to go till DC are out of college, I will probably work till I'm 65. So that's about 25 yrs from now.

It will totally depend on my physical health & how I feel about my job at that point.
62 is my max. I could retire before that, but there's no way I'm working past that (at least not in my current career).

Never, for all 3.

I have no desire to ever not work. That may change as I get older, but for now, I'm good working till I kick the bucket.

My dh can retire at 43! I don't think he will but he's debates retiring and gettin. A different job with another pension

I can retire with a NYC Pension at 43, so in less than 2 years.
Husband could have retired last July.


He's not 100% positive when he's leaving. I believe in one more year.

I'd like to stay on for a 25 year pension- my daughters will be 13 years old and be entering HS.
