Republic Airport Planes
Hello does anyone know if the planes will be practicing for the airshow all day on Friday and Friday night as well. I wanted to take my son around 5:30pm - 6ish

Republic Airport Planes
They usually do not practice at night. I live within the flight path at republic and it would impact the neighborhood quite a bit if it was going into the evening.
Even Friday during the day it is very limited compared to the actual airshow.

Republic Airport Planes
They do practice Thursday and Friday from what I recall. They fly over my house and my parents, that is how I know. I am not sure about that time though, I feel like maybe the latest is about 4pm or so. You can call them and ask at the airport I am sure.
I do know that Saturday and Sunday , a lot of people hang out near the home depot parking lot off route 110 and watch them take off and land. I believe they have events where you can meet the pilots as well, maybe at the Cradle of Aviation???
Call the airport and ask them, I am sure they would be happy to give the details.
Edited to say: Bethpage air show site says full practice over Jones Beach 12pm to 5pm on Friday.

They normally post a schedule of practice times on a sign at the entrance to the airport.

I just saw something posted that the USAF Thunderbirds will have a viewing at McArthur airport on Friday from 2 pm to 6 pm as that is their staging area for the air show
It's just a viewing, not flying or anything, but if you son is interested in planes, it might be good
