replacing gas range with electric?
For a variety of reasons, I would like to replace our gas stove with an electric one. Is this a big hassle to do? What is involved in doing it? TIA!

Re: replacing gas range with electric?
Can I ask the reasons? I am always shocked when I see people want to go from gas TO electric. I want to go from electric to gas.

You need a plumber to remove or cap off the old gas line, then an electrician to run a dedicated circuit from the main panel to where the stove is. Hopefully your house service can handle the additional load. There's a possibility you need to increase the power line from the pole to your house.

Re: replacing gas range with electric?
Thank you!
We want to do this mostly for safety reasons. The stove was leaking gas a few months ago and had to be shut off for a few days while we got it fixed. Since then it has given off a gas smell every so often, and when it does I call the gas company, they come over, spend a lot of time checking everything out, they tell me there is no leak and no reason I should be smelling the gas, but then the only time I don't smell it is when we shut the gas valve to the stove off. We do have CO detectors but it drives me crazy when the stove makes that gassy smell. It's our only appliance that does that, and I'm not much of a cook anyway, so I'd rather just replace it with an electric stove and be done with the whole gas thing.
