renting a breast pump?
I feel like I don't want to waste the money on a expensive pump if for some reason it doesn't work out. Is it expensive to rent it for the first month through the hospital?

i believe it was $75/month to rent from LIJ. that was may 2011 for the medela symphony pump. its more cost efficient by far to buy a pump. you can rent the first month to make sure you will use it before you buy one but i def wouldn't plan to rent long term cause that would be a bigger waste than buying a pump. i only rented because i had very low supply and the hospital grade medela symphony pump got me more milk than my medela freestyle. i switched after 4 months and my supply dipped but i didnt want to keep paying the rental fee when i had my own pump. also the hospital grade pumps are big and bulky and need an outlet while the home pumps are portable and many run on batteries.

I rented the symphony and it was $60 / month but I live outside of NY. I'm really glad I rented because I had severe supply issues and felt like if I wasn't using the best, I would never have known if I was giving it my all trying to nurse and pump around the clock.
