renting a breast pump

I want to use a good breast pump, but they are so $$ and I can not breast feed for long since I have to go back to work shortly after...

Does anyone know if you can rent a pump from the hospital? Or a website? They are safe to use right?

I can't give you any advice about this, but I'm sure other ladies will be able to help. I have this thread book marked about talking to your insurance company about them actually covering the cost of a breast pump. Maybe this will help:

You can rent from the hospital I think, but some pharmacies, as well as BRU also rent pumps.

It is safe because you have to purchase your own kit with tubing, shields, and valves. So all you rent is the actual pump machine part.

I plan on renting a pump from the hospital since I will only be able to breastfeed for a little while before I have to go back to work. My sister did the same when she had my niece.

I am glad Sandra mentioned this. I just called my insurance company earlier this week and I am covered to either buy or rent a breast pump (up to $2000/year) by them. They showed me how to find the companies I can buy or rent from. I am super psyched b/c $2000 is a TON of money. I can now get a really expensive one covered by Empire.
