Registry Story
I just wanted to share my experience registering for the girls who have not registered yet.
My due with a on January 8th. We found out what we were having last month and my mom asked me to register ASAP since my shower is going to be October 20th.
A few weeks ago I myself had to go to a baby shower and I went to the BRU/TRU in Bay Shore. BIG mistake! I was very overwhelmed! I printed out the registry and couldn't find anything! The print out has where the item is suppose to be and I still couldn't find anything. I don't know if it was me but the place was SO hot too. There wasn't a big selection and I ended up having a breakdown in the store and started crying because I couldn't find anything and was starting to get worried what my experience registering was going to be like. I ended up getting a gift card and calling it a day.
I told my cousin my experience and she just had her boy in January so she offered to go with me when I register. She probably saved my life and my sanity. If it wasn't for her I would probably still be staring at the bottles and crying.
We first went to Buy Buy Baby in Huntington. The set up was very nice and the employees were helpful. They even give you a bottled water if you want one. They did have a great selection. It took us about 2 hours to get through it. It didn't help that our gun kept on dying. I also found out the you can use unexpired Bed Bath & Beyond coupons there. I wasn't thrilled with their furniture selection. Also, I don't know if it's just me but their diaper bags were extremely expensive. The cheapest one I could find was $100. My cousin made everything very painless and stress free.
Since I had such a miserable time at the BRU/TRU in Bay Shore she suggested we go to the BRU in Massapequa. I liked the set up here also and again the employees were great. The first thing I looked for was diaper bags since I knew I didn't register for one at Buy Buy Baby. I liked their selection a lot more and it was more reasonably priced. I registered for one that was $27.99 and it is a 5 in 1 diaper bag. BRU has this program called VIB (Very Important Baby) now. I didn't know about it until yesterday. It's a reloadable card that's designated for diapers, wipes, formula, and etc. BRU will contribute 10% for every dollar added up $200/year. DH and I are going to put $25/week on the card until the baby is born. Also, when people buy things off your registry they can add funds to the card. It's a pretty nice perk that BRU has. Also, they give you a registry book (as did Buy Buy Baby) but this one is pretty awesome because it lets you register in bundles! For example, I registered for the Philips Advent bundle and I only had to scan 1 barcode and it registered automatically for 14 different items such as 3 pk of 4 oz bottles, 3 pk of 9 oz bottles, bottle brush, nipples, and etc. That made registering a lot easier. I was in and out of BRU in about an hour.
DH wasn't with me so him and I will go back today to look at furniture.
That sums up my registry experience and I thought I would share it with girls who have not registered yet. If possible, I would try to go with someone who just recently had a baby. My cousin really helped me register for things that I actually needed.

Re: Registry Story
we registered at BRU and were given the option to set up an appointment with a 'registry specialist' to go through the store and help us out; we declined, but I could imagine that it would be really helpful (liek your cousin!) Glad you got your registry straightened out!

Registry Story
I absolutely HATE the BRU in Bay Shore. I find the employees there to be completely useless. One time I was there I asked to speak to the manager and he called the cashier back saying he was too busy to talk to me and I should call the 1800 number. I like BBB so much better, if I do have to go to BRU I go to the one in Lake Grove, I find them to be so much more helpful there.

BRU in bayshore is absolutely disgusting.. I went there last week to add things to my registry. It was hot as hell in there, they had NOTHING in stock, they maybe had like 3 swings on display and worst of all.. 2 different employees literally told me to MOVE out of the way, not excuse me, MOVE. One of them even pushed my shopping cart into my belly as he was telling me to move. I will NEVER go back there.

Registry Story
I feel the same way. My sister came to help me register and I have no clue how I would have done it without her. I was overwhelmed, but she really kept me sane and helped me put together a great registry!
I went to Bohemia BRU to register because of how crappy Bay Shore is! I called Bay Shore today to ask a question and it took FOREVER to get a response. I called Bohemia to ask the same question and it was answered quickly! The store you go to can have a big impact on whether or not you have a good experience!

DH and I went to the one in Bohemia yesterday because I wanted him with me to pick out the furniture. That one was very nice and clean. We had a good experience there.

Re: Registry Story
I had an awesome registry experience at BBB because I made an appointment with one of the staff there and she went through everything and told me what I really needed and didnt need. She was with us about 2 hours.
