registering for baby monitors

I spent a lot of time reading through Consumer Reports about baby "stuff" since I'll be registering soon. Which one did you girls register for? I'm thinking of going with one that has the video monitor...but I'm not sure. The one that had the most postive reviews did not have the best reviews on BRU website, it was audio only.

We registered for the Sony Baby Monitor - 900MHZ. I have heard it is good for apartments and townhouses where there is lots of interference. If we had a two story home, I would definitely get the video.

I have the summer infant video monitor and absolutely love it. The picture is crystal clear, and I can't imagine just having an audio.

Re: registering for baby monitors

We went with the Summer Video Handheld Monitor.

We also heard good things about the Sony 900mhz ones (if you don't want video).

And other friends recommended the Angelcare w/movement sensor.

Re: registering for baby monitors

I have the Summer Handheld and its really clear and easy to use!

However one day I went to test it out not knowing the camera was off and I turned on the handheld and got interference. I could actually see a neighbors baby/room on my handheld!
Very scary because that means others would probably get interference and would see our Chat Icon when he comes....right?

I have the Summer Night & Day Video Monitor combined with the Angelcare Monitor. I wouldn't have been able to sleep at night if I didn't have both of them. I still, 21 months later use the video one.

Definately go with a video. I'm still using it at 2 1/2 years and LOVE it, wouldn't buy anything else!

Re: registering for baby monitors

I live and swear by my Summer Video Monitor.

The best thing we got at my shower by far.

You can see the baby perfectly. ETA: I also had the Angelcare but we just used that the first 4 months of so - that was the only way I was able to get any sleep at all. Once he started moving around we had to unplug it.
