Registering at Buy,Buy,Baby.. need advice!

DH and I are going to register probably next week or so.
we took a ride over the weekend to BBB and loved it! i actually like it more than BRU.

it just stinks that BBB has only 2 locations on the island. did that stop anyone from registering there?
i just have people coming to our shower from all over the place. why do i feel so bad.

should i maybe register at both and have a decent amount on each?

I live in Huntington so BBB is very conveinent for me...there is also a location in Garden City, a lot of my friends and coworkers live in Nassau. My family, however, lives out East, so therefore I am also registering at BRU. The majority of the items will be from BBB though. Good luck!

I was concerned because my MIL and a bunch of her friends who were invited to the shower are not from Long Island and do not live near a BBB. We decided to do a second registry at Target. There wasn't as much stuff on the Target registry, but it worked out fine.

Its been awhile for me but I am finding that I love BBB over BRU.

Between the two, they do carry majority of the same things.

I would register at both. I did.

Funny u mentioned this De. I actually went to BRU yesterday and really liked a lot of their stuff too. Now i think i am going to register at both places. BBB had a better furniture (and twin) selection IMO. I think i am going to register for some of the smaller stuff at BRU----they seemed to have a lot of items on sale.

This is so fun, right?

I know a lot of people who aren't from the Island so I also started a second registry at BRU for their convenience. I would say it's about 75% BBB and 25% BRU.

nope. everything can be purchased online and I feel like their selection is so much better than any other baby store. We went to BRU yesterday to look at strollers and they didnt have either that we we are considering Chat Icon

I also feel like the online registry is much easier to read than BRU Chat Icon

I recommend doing two registries Deanna. BBB is very limited in locations and BRU is literally on every other block it feels like. You can't go wrong by having 2 registries and even if your items overlap, you can always return them. Makes it easier for the gift givers - especially some of the older people that like to walk into a store to see and buy the gifts instead of online, you know?

I am doing both BBB and BRU. I also prefer BBB, but none of our family is on LI (they're in the boroughs, upstate, or Jersey). So we're doing both. I'm afraid no one will buy off the BBB registry though!

I think I like BBB more than BRU too. Remember even though there arent a lot of BBB locations - a lot of people do their shopping online anyways. Chat Icon

I want to register at BBB, but the lack of locations doesn't sit right with me. I have people coming from all over LI and DH has family in FL. We will be registering at BRU

Most of our stuff is at BBB and I love it that way. We did mostly BRU last time and while I had no complaints about them, I wish I would have done only BBB because the store is just so much nicer. I don't think it's an issue - people can order online and get you a gift card to someplace else if they can't make it to the store.

i was thinking of BBB but it's not convenient for me so i'm being selfish but i will register at BRU and target so people have more options.

I didn't register there because of the locations. My mom gave my sister a hard time when she wanted to register there- so I didn't even attempt it.

We registered at BBB and have been very, very happy with our experience. Even though it's further from our house, we registered at the Garden City store - they were SO nice to us!

Re: Registering at Buy,Buy,Baby.. need advice!

I would do both. We mostly registered at BRU because of that reason. I only have a stroller at BBB. I will go there after the baby is born but I think BRU is easier for most people.

we registered at both cuz my family is oot and dont have bbb close to them.

although i know ppl could technically buy stuff online...i know in my situation...they wouldnt. so to avoid getting things we didnt want, we put stuff at both.

I preferred BBB as well but, decided to register at both because BRU is more convenient for people. I split the registry in half at first but, found more people went to BRU so I moved a lot of things over.

I do have to say that I did have a good experience with both places.

De, I registered at BBB and BRU because I know a lot of people aren't close to a BBB or don't know about it.

For #2 when I don't plan on having a shower, I would just register at BBB so I can get the discount. I have BRU. I seriously believe there is a stupid requirement to work there. Or a nasty one.

I had the same concerns as you with BBB. I registered at both BBB and BRU and found that more stuff came off the BBB registry. A lot of people with order things online.

Re: Registering at Buy,Buy,Baby.. need advice!

Definitely register at BBB. I hate BRU and the next time I won't be registering there. BBB is more organized, has a nicer selection and has associates that are actually helpful and know what they are talking about. Oh and on top of that they wrap gifts and you can use the 20% off Bed Bath and Beyond coupons (with some exclusions) at BBB.

I would do the big ticket stuff at BBB and some little stuff (bottles, blankets, etc) at BRU just so those that don't want to drive far have a choice.

ETA: If you don't want to do BRU you can also do Target (although I hear their return policy sux too), Walmart or JCP.
