red light ticket
i got a ticket in the mail for turning right on red. I swear I didn't see a sign that said I couldn't turn. I drove by after to check and i still didn't see one. It's on Old country Rd and carle Place Common. Does anyboday know if there's a sign there?
I think that's the entrance to the toys r us. Can I fight this?

They will give you a ticket: A) if you didn't stop before the white line first and B) if you didn't wait long enough/stop all the way before turning right on red.

You CAN turn right on red unless it specifically states NO TURN ON RED
However- you must stop for a FULL 3 seconds before proceeding.
If you watch the video- do you see yourself making that full of a stop?
If not, you will get the ticket.
Happened to me- it stinks!

There is a no right on red sign at the corner by the diner.

What KILLS me is that is NOT the law- it's an arbitrary thing made up by these red light camera companies.
My DH is a cop and said that as long as you make a full stop (tires NOT rolling) that it doesn't matter if you stop for 1 second or 10. The law is- Right on Red after full stop. Nothing in the law states how LONG you have to stop.
I swear- there has to be a way to protest this as been illegal.

I got 3 tickets in a row. I didnt get the red light ticket for a month after it happened, so I did the SAME thing 3 times before realizing what I did.
If you didnt stop, you get a ticket.
Oh, and they were so nice to put up the video of me rolling through the right on red.
a$$holes.
Oh, and nervous nell, if I got a ticket that I STOPPED at, and they still gave me a ticket. I WOULD fight it.
Oh, and do you all know the compnay the runs the red light ticket scam is NOT in NY??? So this whole thing is for raising money, uh, "safety". But the money raised is NOT kept in NY. (rather, I bet the company keeps like 70% and Suffolk gets like 30%).
Dont get me started on red light tickets.

There is a link on the ticket to watch the video, I would watch it before you try to fight anything. Sometimes you *think* you stopped fully when you really didn't. We got a ticket for the same thing and we could've sworn we made a full stop but the video doesn't lie. My BFF's DH is a Suffolk County cop and there is NO amount of seconds you HAVE to stop for, you simply have to make a full and complete stop before making the right...............# of seconds is irrelevant.
