Recurrent Loss.... need some help
Hey everyone! I haven't posted much about my journey ttc #2, but I've been having a really rough time. (A little background for those who don't know me, we have MFI and DS was a result of our first fresh IVF cycle, we had 11 frozen embryos from that cycle). I'm at the end of my 4th FET cycle and I'm getting the feeling this is going to be another chemical, making that 3 out of 4 FET's ending in chemicals. The first FET was BFN. I go in for a beta tomorrow, but my tests are all super light and not getting any darker... I've been down this road before and it's exactly what happened the last 2 times.
Anyway, if this ends up being another chemical, what should I do next? We finally have insurance coverage so I could do another IVF or we still have 5 frozen embryos to use. After last cycle they made it seem like it was an embryo issue, that the embryo just wasn't chromosomally normal or something like that. But it just doesn't make sense to me, I got pregnant the first time around with BOTH embryos that were put back and lost one at 8 weeks... since then I've put SIX back total and all of them are abnormal?? I'm wondering if the problem is with me now, but I don't know what tests to ask for or meds to ask about.

I really can't give advice about your specific situation- but I do know that Dr.Braverman specializes in multiple losses. You might want to try giving him a call and see what he recommends!
Check out his website! Dr.Braverman
You can watch his video on the homepage too. He's great!

I checked out the website and it looks good, I know he gets a lot of good reviews on here. It's a little overwhelming thinking about all the possible immune issues, etc..
Does anyone know if he accepts Empire insurance? Or if the testing is generally covered by insurance?

Re: Recurrent Loss.... need some help
i agree that if you have repeat chemicals you should see Dr. B. his specialty is immune rejection of pregnancy. he does testing and protocols that most other REs dont do.
were your embies frozen on day 3 or day 5? im not 100% sure of this, but if they were frozen on day 3 i THINK you may be able to have them thawed and do genetic testing on them before transfer. if they are day 5 you wont have any opportunity to test them genetically. but chemicals in general tend to be issues of immune or thrombophilic rejection and not chromosomal. chromosomal issues tend to present more with embies that dont mature to blast OR first trimester miscarriages, not necessarily chemical CPs. your 8week loss could have been chromosomal (did you have testing done?), and it could have just been random, as many chromosomal issues are.
either way im sorry you have to go through this, as if infertility itself isnt enough.. repeat loss just makes it all that much harder. good luck!!

They are 5-day blasts so they can't do testing on them. I also considered doing IVF with PGD but like you said, I feel like I'm the issue and not the embryos. The 8 week loss was DS's twin so it was reabsorbed. I assume it was chromosomal as the sac was never properly formed and it was a little behind all along. So if I'm having chromosomal m/c's I would expect them to last until 6-8 weeks, not 4-5 like this. Ugh, this is so frustrating.
Thanks for your input

Re: Recurrent Loss.... need some help
Most testing will be covered by insurance. Many treatments will be covered, but not all. One helpful site is Dr Beer's site he is the pioneer of immune testing for RPL. It is very common for people to have a perfect 1st pregnancy and then have issues with losses teh second time around.
Dr Beer
GL FM me if you want to get more specific

Just got my beta back and it's only 25 (the worst one yet) and my progesterone is low so I need to start PIO (this is the first time I haven't been on progesterone though so thats not usually an issue). I don't even want to start them, but the nurse said I should.

Dr. B is great!!!! I also have Empire and only pay the copays. Empire has a great IF benefit. nyship Some of Dr. B's immune testing isn't covered and can be a bit $$ depending on what's done. Just keep your receipts as medical expenses for your taxes.
