Recovery/downtime of a vaginal birth

I had an emergency c-section with my daughter and had a vbac with my son. After the c section I looked and felt horrible. After the vbac I felt great, if they would have let me leave the hospital after the 2 hour recovery period I would have loaded the baby in the car and been on my way. I had a slight tear and hurt my tail bone so sitting was a little uncomfortable but I was able to drive, lift my daughter (20 months at the time) and function like normal. I think if your comfortable with it try for the vbac

i think it depends on how your vaginal delivery would go. with my first, i had a vaginal delivery, but it took me almost two months to recover. I had a 4th degree tear/episiotomy (took doc 45 minutes to stitch me up) and hemmorroids that were horrific. I also developed a terrible infection down there (reactions from the spray, creams, etc. they gave me for pain). I could barely walk or sit for a few weeks after delivery.

with my second, he was out in three pushes and I felt fantastic. I was at a family party 5 days after delivery.

I had 2 vaginal deliveries. I didn't need stitches with either and although I was sore for a few days afterwards, I felt great & was up & about as soon as they let me. Like others, I had no restrictions & was doing everything that I normally do once I got home.

ETA: I did have some tailbone bruising after my first, but it didn't stop me from doing anything. It took a full 2 years to heal, but it was a big annoyance more than anything else. I couldn't sit in the same position for more than 10 min. without it hurting, so I had to make a conscious effort to change positions & get up to move around more.
