Re: Recommend your white noise machine
I like the Dex baby one.. I don't like the Sleep Sheep, which I also have because it turns off. I keep the noise machine on all night and for all naps. The sound means it's sleep time.
I think it's like $29.99 at BBB.
I put it on the Ocean sound-- that's the only one I use.

I guess I also should have asked - are they loud enough to drown out normal "house" noise. We have been using the AC in DD's room and putting it on "fan only" at 0, so it's doesn't blow cold air, but it makes a nice hum that helps drown out noise. She is great at night, but this helps a lot for naps during the day.

Re: Recommend your white noise machine
we have this one. It wasn't cheap $50, but it is a very constant noise (doesn't repeat) and sort of sounds like a fan. you can adjust the volume and pitch. we ordered it from amazon

The homedics soundspa lullaby has a volume setting which can go up pretty high. Dh used the fan from the ac before but now we use this noise machine and it is definitely loud enough.

Re: Recommend your white noise machine
how about CDs??
we got "the happiest baby on the block soothing sounds" CD (im pretty sure thats what its called)
DD loved it!!! it had 3 different heartbeat sounds, a hairdryer sound, and a rain sound. DD would SCREAM and id take her in the bedroom, put it on, and it would calm her in minutes

It goes super loud, DS sleeps with it on pretty loud and it drowns out everything. I'm surprised he can sleep with it as loud as it is, but I guess it was super loud in the womb so they're used to it, the waterfall sound is a constant noise, it sounds like radio static actually.

Same here, rain with the fishy light show! However, took it on a weekend getaway and have yet to plug it back in and DS is doing great without it. He's almost 6 months. But I may start using it soon again, then bring it when we go to Florida the first week in January to give him "something from home" feeling. It's nice and small and travels well.
