Recommend your ped. urologist...DS has a hidden penis...
DS is 1 mo. and our OB couldnt do the circumcision at birth bc he has want turns out to be a "hidden penis" per a ped. urolorgist Dr. Friedman with Peds Urology. He said that we have to wait 6-12 months to have the circum done at the hospital and that he'll go under anesthesia...which scared me...makes me paranoid...anyone have experience with this?
and if you can rec. your ped. urologist i just want to hear a second opinion...THANKS!!!

Dr. Palmer - THE BEST!
ETA - DS was put under and went through it. It scared the crap out of me too but he did great  The difference is amazing, I was clueless at how hidden it actually was.

how old was your DS when it was done? how long did it take..etc...did you see anything or was there?
Dr. Friedman saw my DS last week, do you think he would be offended if we saw Dr. Palmer for the consult b4 the circum and have Dr. Palmer do it?

I second Dr. Palmer...he did did the surgery for DS' undescended testicle and found a bilateral hernia while in the area. Surgery was a success and confrimed again at the follow-up to be perfect.
Dr. Palmer is great...and didn't find it odd that I hugged him in the middle of the recovery area.

Dr Palmer.
We see him for hypospadia. Ds is just being monitored. No surgery yet. Has a mild case.

Another HUGE Dr. Palmer fan here!
He did DS's Hypospadias repair, Chordee repair, and circumcision when he was 8 months old.
Dr. Palmer has a great bedside manner with DS and me I was a wreck about the whole thing and Dr. Palmer was nothing short of amazing!!!

Both my boys have been put under anesthesia. It sounds scarier than it is

15 months, maybe an hour. You do not stay in the room, you can bring him into surgery, be there as he is put under then they take you IMMEDIATELY out once he's asleep.
You are free to see any doctor you wish You are his mother, don't worry about anyones feelings but your own.
being put under is scary but all will be ok

Dr. Gitlin and Dr. Palmer are in the same practice. I don't think you can go wrong with either of them. They are the best.

DS went under anesthesia by Dr. Palmer because he had to be recircumsised...(My ob/gyn didn't take enough off).
DS did great...2 hours after the surgery was playing like normal...as if nothing ever happened.
The thinking and waiting for the surgery was the worst part.

DS #2 is being treated by Dr. Ellen Shapiro at NYU. I love her and am very happy with her. She has given me her home phone number, is available whenever I need her and is so caring. DS has hypospadias. She has done one surgery on him so far (his case isn't fixable in one surgery) and has been so attentive to him. He will be having a second surgery in September with her.
The anesthesia was tough, I am not going to lie. But you get through it.

We used him also and LOVED him!!!!! He was not quick to do surgery and had a great bed side manner.

Do you REALLY want to do the circ? (background: we didn't get DS circed... but for different reasons).
I'd get an opinion from the urologist about the risks & benefits in your kid's particular case.

We now see Edward Reda out of Pediatric Urology who I cant recommend highly enough but if youre looking for a different practice we saw Richard Schlussel out of Mt Sinai in the city when DS was an infant for a circumcision related problem and was very happy with him as well!
