Recent scheduled c-section moms...

It's been a few years since my last c-section, so my memory is a bit fuzzy Chat Icon ...but did the hospital call to confirm your c-section??? My OB's office has told me I'm scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday 11/30 at Huntington Hosp.

I called my OB's office this past Tuesday telling them that I hadn't heard anything from the hospital and I wanted to make sure everything was confirmed. (I had friends who recently had babies at different hospitals telling me I needed to do pre-op work, but I couldn't recall if I had gone in a day or two earlier for the pre-op or if they did it when you're admitted prior to the surgery.) The surgery scheduler told me there was no pre-op work and that I just go right in for the c/s and that the hospital will call me the night before.

I had an OB appointment on Wednesday and my OB asked if I was all set for Saturday. I said "Well, I'm assuming the hospital will call me with the info because I haven't heard anything other than from your office." So he told me "Ok, nothing by mouth after midnight and be at the hospital by 6:30am..." I asked "Do I go to admitting?" He said "No, go right to labor and delivery" which I thought was unusual. In the past I thought I had gone to admitting.

So here I sit at 5pm with no call from the hospital. Chat Icon I would have thought they would have called during normal business hours, no?

I don't recall being so out of the loop with my previous two c-sections. Chat Icon

To make matters a little odder...a couple weeks ago when I asked the nurse if she knew anything about my c-section, she read a note in my folder stating that a doctor from a different practice was doing the surgery (Scanlon...whom I researched and seems to be well liked), but my OB nor anybody else at the office has made mention of that. When I saw my OB on Wednesday, it was as if he was performing the surgery and bonehead me didn't even confirm that aspect with him.

Recent scheduled c-section moms...

I had my c-section three weeks ago at Southside. I had to call hospital to confirm time. I didn't go to admitting; I went straight to Labor and Delivery.
Definitely odd that a doctor from another practice is assigned to you. I would ask about that...

Re: Recent scheduled c-section moms...

I just had a scheduled c at Huntington about 6 weeks ago. I never got a call from them. I called the hospital directly about a week before to check what time I needed to be there since my OB office was completely unhelpful.

I did have to go to admitting first though to do some papers etc. So if I were you I'd do that instead of going to L&D first.

Re: Recent scheduled c-section moms...

Not extremely helpful, but Scanlon did my c/s and was great.

I had scheduled a c/s but ended up going into labor early so can't help you on whether they confirm or not. I do believe you go to admitting first though. And 6:30a on a Sat morning at Huntington Hosp, I believe you have to go to the ER admitting area, not the main entrance one?

Thank up you ladies. Chat Icon Chat Icon

So of course I show up at 6:30 and the nurses at L&D tell me I'm really early...that they weren't expecting me until 8. Chat Icon

Then I asked if they knew who was performing the surgery and one nurse didn't know while another told me Goldman.

So much for trying to be prepared for a scheduled c/s. I feel so clueless... As if it's the first time I've gone into labor. Chat Icon
