Recent construction photos
We finished an extension to our house a few months ago, but my digital camera died so I never had a chance to show the work until now. We added 9'x18' to our bedroom, a master bath and a big walk-in closet. We had the house stripped of siding and the roof removed and replaced. The house had vinyl siding and we wanted to go back to the old-fashioned clapboard look, so the new siding we chose is Hardi-board. It's a concrete composite that looks and feels like wood but comes already painted and has a lifetime warranty. We also gutted and renovated our downstairs bathroom and had the windows replaced in our LR and DR. They also had to take down our kitchen ceiling to accommodate the new bedroom floor above, so basically, every room in our house was effected.
Our contractors started on Nov. 11 and were finished by Jan. 31. We were lucky with the weather this Winter and are delighted with the work.
Unfortunately I don't have many "before" pictures because of same camera problem, but here are the pictures of our house now....House Renovation

I LOVE your home! its gorgeous! love the tub, the barn, everything!
Also, great to know about the Hardi Board! I will have to look into that. We still have the old clapboards on our house which I love, but would be interested in hearing how much more energy efficient this hardi board is since we didn't want vinyl siding, it looks great!

Thanks, everyone. We've enjoyed doing it and have some more projects in mind!
The Hardi-board was about $5K more than doing vinyl siding. I saw it being used on HGTV and just had to have it! Our contractor was Eagle Shore in Bay Shore. They had a sub contractor do the siding and that guy has now gone into business with Eagle Shore.
It's hard for me to say how good the insulation is, because we took down 3 layers of siding which actually provided a lot of insulation and at first we felt the house was not as warm with the new siding. We then discovered that some vents that had previously been covered were wide open, so now that they are covered up we are hoping to feel the improvement next Winter.
