Recent c-section at Winthrop?
Anyone have a c-section at Winthrop recently? How long were you in recovery? Was the baby with you? Do they have private rooms anymore?
TIA!!!!!!

Re: Recent c-section at Winthrop?
I had one 18 mo this ago and my SIL had one 2 weeks ago. She was in recovery for 4 hours and I was in recovery for 6. She responded really well to the anesthesia an it started wearing off quickly. Mine took about 5 hrs to wear off. My babies went to the NICU but my SIL said the baby was with her the entire time! I had a private room after 2 days. Everyone decided to give birth the day I have birth. I had to stay 5 nights in te hospital for blood pressure issues so I had 3 nights with no roommate thankfully! My SIL ha her own room the entire time. She only had to stay 3 nights. They are trying to accommodate everyone with private rooms and only doubling up of necessary.

Re: Recent c-section at Winthrop?
Just had DD there in February. Baby was with me the entire time in recovery...and actually rode on the bed with me from the operating room into recovery...the only time she was taken in recovery was to give her a bath & even then she was right next to me. DH watched them give her a bath. The baby also rode on the bed with me up to my room once I was released from recovery. They now also do all the monitoring of the baby in the room with you - no more taking them back to the nursery. They only took her to do the hearing screening. This all being said - YOU CAN SEND YOUR BABY TO THE NURSERY ANYTIME. I stayed for 4 nights and sent the baby back every single night. They brought me the baby for feedings (EBF) and once I was done feeding her, they would come back and get her. I also sent her back to the nursery so I could shower, rest, etc. I felt NO PRESSURE at all to have her stay with me the entire time. They entire staff was wonderful and the nurses all agreed that the baby should be in the nursery at night so I could rest. I was very nervous about the new "rooming in" policy, but there was no reason for me to worry.
If you have any other ques, feel free to ask!
ETA: private rooms....they try to keep everyone private unless the hospital gets busy. I had my own room for 3 nights and got a roommate the last night, of course! I think you can still pay for a private room though.

This was pretty much my experience as well in March. I was lucky and didn't get a roommate at all when I was there even though there was another bed in the room.

Re: Recent c-section at Winthrop?
I delivered there Feb 24th. Had him at night. Spent about 2 hours in recovery, I just had to get feeling back in my legs after the c/s and get started on the Mg drip because of my high blood pressure before being taken to my room. Baby was with me the whole time in recovery and wheel up to my room with me about 2 am.
I had a roommate when they brought me to my room. It was a super tiny room! The nurse must have seen the look on my face because she said the roomie was going home in the morning.
Once she left the following morning, I had no roomie the next 3 nights. They do have private rooms, but I wouldn't pay for one until you know for sure. They fill all rooms as singles before doubling up, and when they do, they put you in a room where the person will be leaving shortly.
