Really hate the rhogam shot
I'm such a baby but I just hate it!
I've had to get it 4 times and still makes me nervous like a little kid

what is it?
it's a shot given to expectant mothers at about 28 weeks who's blood type is RH negative (A-, B-, etc.) and if the father of the baby is RH positive. Basically the baby can have Positive blood type (which is unknown while they are in the womb) and if there is bleeding during the pregnancy the blood can cause the mother's body to provide antibodies against the RH positive baby which can lead to the mother's body attacking the fetus.
The shot prevents the antibodies.
If the baby is in fact RH positive at birth, then the mother receives another shot to prevent this from happening in the early stages of another pregnancy.

I get them too because I am A- and i suspect my husband is RH- so I am thinking about having him tested before i get the shot to see if i * really* need it but then again I dont know if i would chance it.
Question: Did your babies turn out to be RH- when they are born? I dont know what my son is ( he or I didnt get a repeat shot after birth) but my daughter is O-.

I am RH- and got it at 28 weeks and after delivery with DS. He has DH blood type.

this is what i have but with a different (rare) protein in the blood - unfortunately, no rhogam shot in my case  no prevention.

With DS1 he is RH- Like myself and DS2 is +. If the shot is not repeated after birth then the baby is most likely RH - themselves.

Same here...I got it a few weeks ago and I was still anxious walking into the doctor's office
