Really dumb question about spring and summer crawlers
My daughter is not crawling yet, just rolling everywhere, but I can see she is happiest rolling around our living room freely I have a son who is constantly outside. So here is the thing...as nicer weather approaches I know we will be outside alot and dd will not want to stay in my arms or even on a blanket the whole time. Those who have been there, how do you deal with it? Do you let them crawl outside? I am wondering how this is going to work this time around. (My son crawled in late fall and winter so it was not a concern)

Re: Really dumb question about spring and summer crawlers
I've been letting DD crawl all over the grass....and she tries to put EVERYthing in her mouth So I'm constantly watching. She loves it and her knees get all dirty, but...oh well She would never sit still on a blanket at this stage.

Ok so that's sort of what I thought I was in for. YIKES. So anyone know where to by knee pads for an 8 month old? Maybe mittens so she can't pick anything up

Re: Really dumb question about spring and summer crawlers
Honestly - I am not about to put Jack on my lawn back there. Abby poops in the backyard (we pick it up - but still....) - and we have a ton of rabbits in the area - I'm sure they poop back there as well.
For now - when we are outside - he's in the pack and play with toys. When he gets sick of it - I have no idea what I'll do!

Re: Really dumb question about spring and summer crawlers
Grass skeeves me big time ( I have no idea why) so I only put DS on a blanket on the grass a few times when he was baby and it was only for pictures. How about putting her in the stroller or bringing the exersaucer out for her.

Thanks for the advice. I will definately try the exersaucer, she is not a big fan of the playpen so I doubt that will work but I will try.

Re: Really dumb question about spring and summer crawlers
I'm not a germaphobe at all and had DS out in the grass all summer last year. I figured there was no way I was going to be able to keep him on a blanket so I didn't even bother. A little dirt is good for them.

Re: Really dumb question about spring and summer crawlers
Mine is 8.5 mos old....not sure I have the answer - all I can say - it has been tough!! not into me carrying him, hates his exersaucer, hates his bouncer (too big for it anyway), hates his pnp, hates the stroller, shall I go on....I have been carrying him squirmy and trying to get away mostly and just hoping he walks early....I have brought a blanket out in the yard and with tons of toys he stayed put for a short time - actually longer than I expected because mine doesn't stay put for a second in the house.

Re: Really dumb question about spring and summer crawlers
Alex loves to crawl around on our lawn - and Scout loves to roll around with her!
I say let them - they're kids - they need to experience nature. A little grass is much healthier than staying cooped up or in front of the tv, imo..

Re: Really dumb question about spring and summer crawlers
Hmm good question - I would love to let her crawl on the grass - but isn't anyone concerned about fertilizer and pesticides that many places put onto the grass?
I know we are good at my home b/c we do our own lawn but they put stuff on the grass at the parks.

Re: Really dumb question about spring and summer crawlers
We don't use any pesticides or fertilizers. We never have because of the dog.
At the park - she's on the swings, not on the grass...yet anyway...
