RE recommendations
It looks like I am on my 2nd 60 day cycle since First ttc (5 months so far).
I am scared that I may have PCOS from reading up on it here and on the web.
My gyn seems to think I am fine - but my gut is telling me that something is wrong.
Do you think I should see a RE - and if so do you have a recommendation?
Backround: I am 31 - just gained about 70lbs in the past year,acne on cheeks,facial hair,depression.

Re: RE recommendations
I have PCOS confirmed by my RE my ob/gyn told me I didn't have it.
I am very glad I went to an RE right away otherwise i would have just been wasting my time w/ my ob/gyn b/c she wouldn't have been treating me for my PCOS.
In my opinion RE's are also better at treating PCOS than ob/gyn's and they monitor you much closer.

Re: RE recommendations
I would definitely go to an RE! Even if it's not PCOS, they might have a better insight as to why your cycles are so long. I waited almost 1 year of TTC before going to an RE. The only reason i was patient was because despite not getting PG, i had pretty normal cycles, so i thought that maybe it was just taking us a little longer. If they were abnormal or long, i would have called sooner (and, actually, my cycles started to get out of wack in the past couple of months, so i called).

Hopefully the RE can get you pregnant very quick and you won't be under his care for very long. I was very nervous also but I want to be pregnant so badly and my RE is being very aggressive with my treatments. He is also much more attentive than my ob/gyn ever was.

Re: RE recommendations
I def. think you should see an RE. If it's PCOS then it's supposedly one of the easiest things to treat when dealing w/ IF. I see Dr. Kenigsberg at LI-IVF and highly recommend him. HTH!

Re: RE recommendations
Go to a RE i did..i went when we had been trying for about 8 months and was fed up with the lack of knowledge of my ob. I work in medical sales so i am pretty well aware of some MD's limitations. Sure enough, i had PCOS and was going through the really long cycles all of a sudden too..i had many other things also pop up but PCOS can be treatable for pregnancy very simply sometimes..it could be as simple as needing clomid. It sucks when you go through those long long cycles!
I saw RMANY-Dr. Flisser in Garden City and their main office is Manhattan. I call on Life IVF(an acct of mine) and they are really good too and alot of ppl on here seem to see them as they are conveinant on Long Island and have a great new facility.
Good Luck.

Re: RE recommendations
I concur w/ the ladies! An RE is well equipped with the knowledge and tools to do more for you than a traditional OB-GYN might. I also see Dr. Brenner at LI IVF. I've seen Dr. Keningsberg there as well and recommend them both! (No knock on Dr. Droesch, I've just never seen her!)
IMO, it sounds like symptoms of PCOS - I have it and have those symptoms as well! I also have an Adrenal issue (Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia) which carries the same symptoms. They endocrine system is a tricky busness, and a RE can diagnose you easily and get you on the path to your BFP! Good luck and tons of
Feel free to FM me if you have any questions or just need to vent/talk!
